I'm back! My first digital illustration, a László reinterpretation.

in #creative3 years ago

Hello again precious souls!

This is my formal comeback to the now Hive blockchain!

I apologize for my absence these last 10 months.

Crazy times crazy life.

But let me tell you I wasn't wasting a single minute of it.

During my break from traditional painting, I bought myself a graphic tablet instead, and started painting again but now in a new medium. Apparently, no one nor anything can make me put away my brushes, even when life is beating the hell out of me.

But everything turned out okay, I promise!

This painting you can see right here was my first digital painting ever. A reinterpretation of the famous painting called A young girl by Philip Alexius de László, a Hungarian impressionist from 1870.

I made this painting in Adobe Illustrator, a program based on vectorial objects, which has the benefit of making any illustration totally scalable keeping the same quality no matter the size.

In case you were wondering how is this even possible, it's because vectorial graphics are made up of mathematics equations. Every line, every point, and curve, there's a computer calculating math stuff behind what appears on the screen.

You can find more info about this right here

And then you may ask again, why using this complex terrifyingly sounded method of digital illustration when you can just open windows Paint or Photoshop or something like that girl?

Well... Here goes my only acceptable answer for that:
The ones in charge to teach me how to digitalize my work were graphic designers only. Not illustrators. So none of them could teach me properly the magic of Photoshop before I got irreparably attached to vectorial illustration 👍

So here I aaaaaaaaaam :)

Anyway, learning digital painting was not exactly easy peasy, I still find myself a newbie. So I thought it may be a good idea to show you guys my journey in this new medium.
