Little Lexi's Journey to Yume Kui Mei

in #creativewriting9 months ago (edited)

Lexi was live on her social media page, the camera opening into a small, rundown neighborhood in Tokyo, Japan. It wasn't the kind of area you'd put on a postcard or suggest tourists spend their time in. This was the city's slums, a place many would rather forget existed, even those who called it home. Street lights were either broken or turned off. The buildings all looked rundown and worn, with cracks running up and down the walls.

At last, the camera would pan to the entrance of an individual home. Lexi's hand would be seen turning the knob and then pushing the door open. The inside was just as worn as the outside. The floors looked old and creaked when you stepped on them, but otherwise, it was simply decorated. At last, Lexi swung the camera's perspective so that her face came into the frame as she moved through her home. Heading to the kitchen and pulling out a beer.

"We are live," she said with a wide Cheshire grin on her face. Welcome to my current humble abode." She said with a soft giggle as the background swung around behind her, showing her the room she was in before coming back to her. She'd move to her living room, take a seat, swiftly pop the top of her beer, and take a swig.

"I thought I'd take this opportunity to officially talk directly to The Harbinger of Nightmares, Yume Kui Mei." She said, pausing and turning her eyes thoughtfully away from the camera before lowering them again. "And provide a little opportunity to introduce myself personally to Ultimate Wrestling."

She'd brush some neon green bangs from her face as she regarded the camera. "And I know you're all thinking, where is the bombshell blonde with the sexy French accent? Doesn't she normally do the pressers for you?" She asked, her grin speeding wide as she considered. "I do get it. That accent is right? Mmm..." She'd pause as if the thought was extra enticing to her. "Wouldn't you just love to hear her read you 50 shades? Eheheh." She'd fan herself dramatically, tossing her head back as if it was too much to handle.

"Officially, Trelisa speaks for The Midnight Society, but my match with The Harbinger of Nightmares is solo. Personal, mmm...one on one... and since that's the case, I thought I'd take the reigns on my own." She said, and her grin faded into something more predatory as she spoke. "_Get Personal..._Eheh." She said, and her playful grin dimmed, fading into something more predatory as she spoke. You might swear you see a fang dipping just below her lips.

Lifting the bottle to her lips once more, she drank a much more extensive drink before setting it down. The sound of the glass on the nearby table thumped as she adjusted her posture, looking into the camera. She'd be silent for a few moments as she considered collecting her thoughts, severe and reflective for a few moments before her grin steadily replaced itself on her face.

"They call Yume Kui Mei The Harbinger of Nightmares, and that is a badass name. It's the kind of name that is given, not assumed. It's too easy to expose a fraud. But Yume Kui Mei is the real deal. A force of nature that left a whole promotion terrified of what she'd do. She kept this mysterious girl's aura about her and took risks that would leave you breathless. She has no regard for herself, much less her opponents, and that style has come to Ultimate Wrestling. Yume Kui Mei isn't the type of chick most people wouldn't be thrilled to take on in their solo debut." She said, her voice filled with a tinge of excitement. Though she had taken the time to sing Yume Kui Mei's praises, there was that undertone that rather than feeling fear, she felt hunger.

"But...it's ironic. Ehehe," Lexi said with a pause, her tone laced with sarcasm. Turning and rising from her seat, she moved around her ramshackle home until she got to a shelf with the Oxford dictionary. She'd flip it open and move to where the word harbinger could be found. She'd highlighted it in bright yellow ink, and flipping the camera around would show the watching audience.

"Harbinger is a person or thing that announces or signals the approach of another...Or, a forerunner of something." Her grin widened once more, and she flipped the book closed, dropping it back onto the shelf before returning her attention to the camera. While comments filled up the live stream, some supporting Lexi, more than a few Yume's gonna kill you, and a lot of back and forth between the two fanbases.

"So naturally, you'd assume Yume Kui Mei, being a harbinger of nightmares, would indicate that she's the precursor for all the nightmares you'll have after she's done with you. And maybe she has been." Lexi said, continuing to emphasize "Harbinger of Nightmares every time she spoke it. Then pausing once more and taking the time to pan the camera around her home, letting the audience know how small and rundown it was before finally moving it back to her.

"So, I gave you a brief rundown of Yume's history. Here's a bit of Lexi's, and maybe consider this a trigger warning but I'm not going to get too deep into it." She said, looking up towards her roof. "Little Lexi grew up in the slums of Chicago, an orphan that only ever ended up with abusive families. By sixteen, she was on the streets, bouncing from shelter to shelter. She was drawn to protests about the injustices she saw and was rewarded with tear gas and batons, so what's a girl to do when she has no love? No family? No justice? And no power to do anything about it? When all her protests have only ever been answered with violence?" She asked, tilting her head and giving her audience some time to ponder the question she was asking. Her screen slowly being filled in the moment with broken hearts, crying faces, and a fair amount of laughing emojis.

"Naturally, she becomes fluent in violence. Fighting in pits, taking on any money she can get. She finds wrestling and is pretty decent at it; by seventeen, she's in death matches. And it suits Little Lexi because, god, she's pissed. And while she can't take all her frustrations and isolation out on the system that allowed all her abuse, she could on her opponents, and she did...And she was good at it." She said.

As she spoke, her usual playfulness slowly ebbed into something more sinister. Seeds of anger and hatred tainted her otherwise cheery expression as if she was reliving all the highlights of her life when she spoke. Her talking increased by the end and lowered until her last few words were barely more than a whisper, as if she spoke with reverence to her death matches and fights.

"It wasn't all blood, bruises, and creepy foster fathers, though. Once _Little Lexi _started making money, she started giving back. She helped in shelters and even built one of her own when she was successful enough. Do a little genuine good because Lexi is not a good girl when she's in the ring. Ehehe," She giggled.

"The fact is, most of what I make goes to fund that. Help other Little Lexis out there so they don't turn into me. It's why Kat and Trelisa live in decent homes, and I'm here. I don't fight for luxury." She explained, her grin returning as she held up a finger. "Which, by the way, if you'd like to help, you can go to Zenoncharities.com and find charities and shelters researched and approved by me. It's good work; people need help, especially with Blovid screwing everything up." She said taking a moment to plug causes she did feel were very important to her. This little turn from the narrative caused a lot of hearts to pop out.

"You see, Yume, Ms. Harbinger, my entire life has been what most would call a nightmare. If someone endured just a few nights I've survived, it'd be the most important night of their lives. The homes I've lived in, what I've done to other people, what other people have done to me..." She'd pause suddenly finding herself a little breathless, her chest heaving as she spoke, and perhaps a few beads of sweat peppering her forehead. "But for Little Lexi, it's just Friday....Eheh, so it's ironic." She said, strolling back to her seat and grabbing a beer as she got comfortable again. The playful facade comfortably back on her face as she regarded the camera.

"That the Harbinger of Nightmares would be the debut of a walking, breathing one, ehehe. Your whole career was building up to introducing Alexandria Zennon to Ultimate Wrestling. Ehehe," she said, her rant filled with a couple of fits of giggles. "Ooh, you're probably thinking you'll do terrible things to me, and god I hope you do," she said, grinning wide to wide.

"But how long can you keep it up? Do you have the stamina to last as long as I can? Do you promise you'll do things worth remembering after ehehehe? I want a good time with you." She lusted as she spoke. Then blew a kiss into the camera and winked.

"As Trelisa would say it, Yume Kui Mei...Ultimate Wrestling, Expect Excellence from me." She said in a faux French Accent, and with that, the livestream ended. Going black as streams of emojis continued to drift and bounce along the screen for a few moments and comments would continue through the next hour.
