The Loveland Frog

in #cryptids7 years ago

I'll be writing more about cryptids, conspiracies, etc, in the future. Let's start with this bad boy.

The Loveland Frog

Alright, this one is quite interesting. I remember reading about this cryptid a while back and it has been one of the most memorable reads in my opinion.

It was first spotted in 1955 in Loveland, Ohio by an unnamed businessman who claimed to have seen three frog-like men on the side of the road. The man got out of his car to observe these creatures and described them as:

  • 3-4 feet tall
  • having leathery skin
  • webbed feet
  • frog-like faces
  • deep wrinkles where their hair should have been

The man also claimed that before he left, one of the creatures held up a stick/wand that emitted sparks.

There has been a second sighting by police officers in the same area in 1977 describing a creature similar to the one seen above.

Now it may seem like the Loveland Frogs were just a piece of folklore from the 1950s-70s right?

Guess again! The most recent sighting was in 2016 (Last year! How crazy is that?) by two teenagers in Loveland while they were playing Pokemon Go! (Must've been a Politoed)

Thoughts

I think it's strange (and funny too) that this cryptid was seen in a city called Loveland and to add to that, seen with a wand in the initial sighting. The Loveland Frog. Sounds like something out of a fairytale.

I personally believe that the existence of this cryptid is possible. Because it was first seen in 1955 I think that it could be some sort of byproduct of nuclear radiation, though I'm not sure if there were any nuclear bomb tests in Ohio. And although we now have photo evidence of the creature or something similar too it, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet because you know, it could be some guy in a costume after all, or a misidentified creature.

Maybe it is a creature that we truly haven't discovered yet or maybe it's aliens, but one thing's for sure:
Those waters need to be checked.

I love stories like these! There has to be a natural explanation. E.g. the chupacabra (do I ever spell it right on the first try?). Most of the time it ends up being some coyote with mange that leaves it mostly bald. (Poor thing!)

I hope there's an explanation. Maybe the creature in the photo is Kermit the frog lol
