Twelve days ago I mentioned that I thought it was very likely that STEEM would break $5 USD by year's end... It looks like I was off by a day, or a year... take your pick. Regardless of what day, month, or year it is, to have STEEM finally hit over $5 USD is a huge milestone for us, and an appropriate way to start 2018!
While it may not have hit an all time high last year, with only one day in on 2018, STEEM has already beat its previous all time high from back in 2016! I remember the excitement and zeal of those days, and I'm glad that I've stuck with steemit through all of that time. It was hard seeing the value of STEEM dip below 10 cents about a year ago, but thankfully, I wasn't one of the ones selling their STEEM for 10 cents each.
Interestingly enough, during the spike of the summer of 2016, there were many people actually buying STEEM for over $4 USD each. While it may have taken a year and a half, their investment finally paid off, assuming that they held their precious STEEM. Of course, if they've used the STEEM as Steem Power for curating, another ROI would have been continuously rolling in, which is another incredible benefit to STEEM.
By holding the investment of STEEM as Steem Power, people can actually use the STEEM to generate more STEEM while rewarding others in the process! Pretty cool, huh?

I sold at $5. Put a few Steem into Bitcoin to "lock in" the high price. Maybe $10 is next and I sold too soon. Still not gonna power down under any condition. Long Steemit! Just playing with a little liquid Steem.

I'm still figuring out how to ingest this news. I'm happy for all of us since the rise of STEEM means that people are appreciating the value of our work here. On the other hand, my small amount SBD can now buy smaller SP.
So, I'm confused as to convert now or later? I want to really improve my SP, since I want to participate more here.

Thanks @papa-pepper! Hopefully, as time progresses, I will be able to know how to conduct analysis for knowing when's the best time to convert from SBD to SP. For now, I hope someone will shed us some light. :)
OMG and Bitshares hit $0.83. I going to wealth by the end of the year.
Last year, Bitcoin crossed the $1000 mark on New Year's Day, and the year that followed opened entire new horizons.
Perhaps today's Steem prices could be signs of what's to come in 2018.

Steem is great if you get the concept.
Few YES very few can POS/POW and a coin, but steem makes it more appealing with posting, curating, delegating, HODLing. You name it.
This is why I believe more should be introduce to steem as a long term viable token.
Not too forget the impact of SMT.

I joined just this October and have witness some amazing things happen here, and some crazy things happen in the crypto space. The interesting thing I found is how Steem has bounced back faster than any other crypto since the end of the year crash. It's at an all time high, while most other's are still correcting and or struggling to recover.
I hope this is an indication that all the new people flooding the space are starting to see the value of Steem. It's trading volumes are spiking on bitshares, along with SBD. This is a great sign, let's see what this year brings!
