ICO MADNESS - ENIGMAS HACK - A WAKE UP CALL FOR US ALL!!!

in #crypto7 years ago

ICO hackers found their next victim. Enigma, a de-centralized platform that’s doing an ICO on 11th of September, had its website and most of their social platforms compromised, with thieves taking over sending spam messages via email and extracting almost 500.000,00 $ from Enigma's community.

This all happened even though Enigma team did warn its community that they would not collect money in this way prior to the ICO next month. There where numerous messages on both slack and telegram channels, and also pined messages in both. But people just disregarded this info. FOMO kicked in and a complete brain shutdown occurred.

So even though they clearly stated that the only way to be in a crowdsale you must be an accredited investor and invest a minimum amount of 100k USD people still believed the emails and sent their crypto to the hackers' addresses. They have also stated that no one from Enigma will ask them to send any ETH, BTC or FIAT before the crowdsale.

"WE WILL CERTAINLY NOT DO SO IN A PRIVATE MESSAGE!"

In spite all of this, when the funds where stolen people started calling them a scam. Asking their money back. "It was an inside job" . People will do anything or blame everyone before they accept their own stupidity. You have to do your own research. This should be a wake up call to everyone out there so they pay attention and take responsibility for their actions.

Nonetheless Enigma's community kicked in. They started following the money trail and managed to find a portion of the funds that was transferred to Bitfinex. They alerted Enigma that took immediate action and contacted Bitffinex to block the account that was used in this con.

In conclusion, I would like to say to everyone "open your eyes". Be attentive! Especially when money is involved. Crypto world is heaven for scammers and because of that you need to make certain precautions before making any transaction. Read the white paper, follow social media and if anything looks suspicious or if you don't understand it consult with the community. Plenty of people out there willing to help, and this situation showed us just that.
