Revolut discontinues crypto services for US customers

in #crypto10 months ago

Revolut (a fintech banking app that you can operate from your phone), has announced that it is ceasing crypto trading services for it's US customers from September.

American customers had been allowed to buy, sell and hold digital coins within their Revolut wallet since 2020. But given the difficult US environment for crypto and the fact Revolut never made much inroads into the US market (only 1% of Revolut customers are affected by this), they've clearly taken the decision that the US is more hassle than it's worth.

By itself it's not a big deal, but it adds to the sense that crypto is exiting the US.

It leaves Americans even more dependant on Coinbase. American crypto folk better
hope that Coinbase survives their lawsuit against the SEC
