600 Bitcoin Mining Computers Stolen in Iceland

Another crypto related crime springs up however this time in a completely different form. Not the hacking of a crypto exchange or scam ICO we have come to expect, but an old fashioned heist of 600 mining computers. In the largest theft in Iceland's history, the computers were stolen from data centers in four different incidents. The hardware has an estimated value or $2 million. A total 11 people have been arrested so far but no computers have been recovered.

Getting them out of Iceland would be hard.

Starting to mine would get them caught because the high electricity use can be detected.

So...not a great move in my opinion.

DNA evidence at the scenes of the crimes led to the arrests, however, the close similarities between most Icelandic peoples' DNA have prevented law enforcement from singling any of them out for prosecution.
