Hi everyone. Its been a while since I have posted an update. The first change I will do is change my default website to
minds.com. The reasons put forth are
- Security: Minds.com is decentralized and open sourced meaning the website is more resistant to point of failure attacks. The Minds token is an ERC-20 token based on the Blockchain.
- Free speech: This platform doesn't have have algorithm manipulation which censors posts with certain key words. Advertising requires spending minds tokens and doesn't require a 3rd party to approve unlike Facebook.
- User friendly: It is much easier to update and post articles on minds.com and it allows users to select specific topics on posts and to follow the content creators they like. The default website I purchased via the Bluehost domain is centralized and the domain I use is Wordpress. In order for me to post content, I would have to create a new page and place all of the elements necessary to have a decent looking single post on a single page.
- In built messenger system: Minds allow private messaging between users with a minds account. This is far more convenient than using a website because it requires an email plugin to be installed into it. Wordpress plugins require constant updates and the in built email system you are given can fail at times. Gsuite is a platform by google but yet again it is centralized, subscription based and known to have security issues(google plus hacked).
With these reasons mentioned above, I will not be renewing the subscription of my personal website. It will stay there until then.I still post on my FB page but I don't see Facebook staying as a monopoly. There is news about FB trying to implement Blockchain into their platforms but I highly doubt their transparency. In conclusion, you are better off saving money using Minds.com than spending money consistently maintaining a centralised website.
