Experience with the Ledger Nano S and Amazon?

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

I am making this post as I am wondering if anyone has had any bad experiences with a Ledger Nano S ordered from Amazon. I was checking the prices in early December and the Nano S was selling between $70-$80 on Amazon. As I continued to check the price throughout December, I was shocked to see the price increase so much and it became the #1 best seller in computers and accessories! As of early January, the cheapest one is available for $119 and others are selling between $150-$200. When I checked the reviews on Amazon, many reported that their Ledger arrived with the anti-tampering seal removed and fingerprints all over the device. This is very worrying if third parties are opening the original package, tampering with the device such as adding a new chip, and then reselling it as brand new. Others are saying they have had problems with their device just randomly shutting off and not responding, forcing them to buy a new Ledger to recover their coins.

So my main question is, for those who purchased their Ledger Nano S from Amazon, has anyone experienced any of the problems I described?

While I know the price is cheaper on the official site, I am still curious if you have experienced any issues with the device shutting down randomly. Also, is it still one of the best considering it is not as cheap as it used to be and it is inconvenient to store multiple coins? What other ones are you guys using that have proven their worth to you? Thanks for the suggestions.

I attached screenshots that show the current price on Amazon and its reviews.

Why would you buy it on Amazon if you could get it cheaper on the official page? Okay, maybe you do not pay shipping (was 13 EUR for me). I bought my on the official and got it within 3 days.

I know its cheaper on the official site but have you experienced any issues?

I bought it on the official site, so I can t tell you anything about Amazon expierences. I know that some are worried about malware on the ledgers.
Regarding the official page I had no problems at all.

Yeah I think buying straight from the website it better than using amazon especially something as important as a crypto wallet.

I've got a Ledger Nano S and it's been flawless. You might want to buy it through one of your fave Crypto YouTubers. Most of them have links and they get a little kickback when you buy through them. Just remember to write down your seed phrase and protect it.
