HELP needed please... I have been trying to learn about off line Wallets

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Hi all, I have a question if someone has the time to help please :)

6 weeks ago I discovered Steemit and cryptocurrency.
In that time, this week actually, I learnt how to buy my first crypto! Yay..go me, hehe

From Steemit I have learnt I need to keep my currency OFF the exchange.

BUT....How do I actually do this?...

I have come across : Hard Wallets, Bread Wallets, Paper Wallets, Cold Storage Wallets...aarrgghhh...What to use...and how do you get it off line?

Also, do you have to put it back on the exchange to buy more? Or can you buy more and just add it to the off line wallet?

I read by someone here, "If you don't control the private keys, you don't control the currency.". Need to learn this too :)

I have only been practicing with a tiny bit, but just in case I actually may make something, I need to learn what to do with it lol..

So, basically..Any recomendations of an Offline wallet will be greatfully appreciated., and how to use it..

Many thanks, cheers all, Dardi :)

Here's a pretty good explanation that also comes with a warning about paperwallets.

You're welcome. Good luck on your new Steem adventure.

Your a legend, I learnt more from the link..thanks again :)
I am trying not to let the novelty of steemit wear off..lol.. I don't have a great deal of time to devote to steemit, but I am not so worried about getting rewards, as opposed to being greatful for all the help in regards to the whole new crypto world I have discovered..and loving lol..

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it..I was starting to think no one wanted to help :)
I have done a lot of researching, and found out so much..thanks heaps for the link... Cheers mate..

I can't believe you spent hard cash on crypto before learning everything wow you're the man

Lol..I'm a chick from country NSW, Australia. I don't exactly have a lot of crypto friends to help guide the way :)
I have only been playing with $50, bought a little Steem ;) and another..I figured people bet more on a horse :)

That's smart not to invest too much which exchanger are you using I heard coinbase is the best. If you're confused about wallets just check the oldest one the longer it's been in business the more legit it is. About public key is like your email address that's what you send to people to send you money, private key is your password no one should know it . Off line wallet try to use bitaddress.org I heard a lot about it

Thankyou so much..I truely appreciate your help! I realise it is a hi tech world I am so not up to speed with :) but learning, fast!
I have used both Coinbase and Coinjar (for Aussies) and bought on Bittrex. Which I learnt how to do here..But is where I still have it, so next step Wallets and better security :)
Once I learn that, I will fell more secure with investing a bit more, even though it is all a gamble really :)
Cheers for the help mate :)

Great question, I need to learn this too, and was going to ask :)

I have read so much it makes my mind boggle..hehe
