A New Year Means New Taxes For Fellow CryptoCurrency Traders

Happy New Years Fellow Steemians!

As we roll into the new year I just wanted to post this friendly reminder (for our US based Steemians) that Uncle Sam wants his cut this year.

For those unfamiliar, cryptocurrency transactions are treated like securities and incur capital gain taxes. While it's unlikely that you'll be on the hook for unpaid capital gains in the short term, it's important to be mindful of how traceable your blockchain transactions are. For more information on how to handle capital gains on your cryptoassets, check out:

Another super helpful resource which lets you import all your trades from a variety exchanges, is bitcoin.tax. Check it out below:

While I don't fully agree that cryptocurrencies should be subject to the same taxes as more conventional securities, I am leery of the fact that the government is aware that many, many, did I forget to say many? people have made significant returns in this market and as such, will be working to get their "fair" share of the action.

Again, happy New Year to everyone. I'm sure 2018 will be a transformative year for the Steemian community and the crypto market as a whole.

Seriously... explain the trick.. you don't get flagged to death?

I don't see why I would? I believe it's fair to upvote your own comment. I understand some people are against the practice, but as long as every single comment isn't "great", "follow me", "this is an amazing post", and has an iota of thought engagement, I see it as valuable content. Now I've defintely upvoted comments that are simple/one worded, but they're a fairly small fraction of my overall posts. Just my 2 cents.

Looks like 90 cents to me lol.. I generally upvote my own posts but not my comment.. even if the comment is more meaningful and thoughtful than the original post.. I do however upvote other peoples comments and generally interact more with those people who UV mine..

Yeah I defintely do interact more with people who UV mine to. I also like to UV responses which are well thought out. It's an interesting moral and economic circumstance created by the Steemit platform, and this is just the way I perceive fair use of it. :p

I also agreed with this argument

Terrific
