Precious Metals? Like shiny rocks? People buy that stuff?
Sorry for being cheeky, I know it's likely a stressful time for some people that are heavily into these markets. I am also into them as well and will and could lose as well if this downturn continues, but I'm also into metals. It may be obvious but I kinda have some silver. It can be like a turtle in some of the market races, but it's something that's always going to have value. It's had value for however long you think the world and civilizations have been around. The governments and currencies and technologies have certainly changed and no one is actually getting paid in silver like the roman times. Yet it still has value. It still has a place as a store of wealth and can be used as a medium of exchange. Heck us stackers are still exchanging it all the time. It's always been a bit of a safe haven and sometimes all us crazies have it right.
If it's not something you've considered it may be a good time to have a bit of silver.
This isn't a sales pitch, I'm not talking fancy, limited edition silver round like we sell. Yeah it's beautiful and fun, but it's more for the serious collector and it has a premium, but it is still silver.
Just buy a few big silver bars and few a generic 1 oz rounds.
Go to Apmex, JMbullion or Silvergoldbull and buy whatever is cheapest. Heck all those place will even accept your crypto directly.
Hide it somewhere and don't tell anyone.
It will help you sleep better at night, knowing that your always going to have something that has some value and something you can potential trade for your next meal if you really need to.

I'm glad I'm not the only holding actual silver and gold ;). Btw owning a gold miner stock is not enough, you want the tangible asset. Cryptocurrencies are a much safer bet in the long term than piece of paper issued by a central bank. Upvoted!

Yup dude, it's nice to have that safety net, sure silver and gold can lose and gain purchase power as well, but plotted over the long run, it still.pretty much takes the same amount of gold to buy a house as it did in the Roman Empire... (Except for Western Canada,lol... Stupid bubbles). Don't forget when it comes to markets, old or new, you buy when there's blood on the streets. There seems to be some crypto blood on the streets now!

Even the stock market is going down so I guess this is no surprise.
I like silver, I am selling monthly put options. When it goes up I put the premiums into bonds. I have been getting an increase in dividends every couple months.
Maybe it's time to invest in gold, silver and oil

I saw your secret link on one of your previous posts after I just powered up all my SBD and Steem today. Of course, shortly after the value of SBD would start to increase faster than Steem as well. O well I can't complain too much with the price of silver going up :D

I enjoyed your post, very lighthearted :) and I did read on another Steemit post that not only the crypto markets where down, but also traditional markets, I could all be due to the same thing, people getting scared because of international news and they are selling and prices drop as soon as a bunch of people do panic sales, I'm still holding my cryptos but I just try not to look at how much they are worth at the moment
I gave up trying to understand what drives the market, it's so much easier that way!
Well there are a lot of factors at play, but the good news is Steem is still standing strong :D

I'm glad to get over 12 oz of profit in Silver without putting a cent into Cryptos, the rest I can just let her ride. It's the house's own cash to have a bit of fun. Did you receive my last $20 of Bitcoin? Well I have an old rickity digital wallet that tends to leak. Haven't sold an ounce of Silver, only given away some.

Well had a small dabble on the cryptos, bought £200 of steem back in August, i powered down and took £500 which was supposed to be for silver but i saw the price of cryptos dropping and thought i would buy some Bitcoin Cash, my £500 has dropped to £320 since then lol but even with the carnage im £120 up from my initial outlay and i also still have 130 steem. But would i rather be holding 0.57 bitcoin cash or 30+ ounces of silver or even 1/2oz of gold? I do love silver.
Yeah, despite the carnage, I'm still up on Cryptos jumped in at the start of December.
