“You do realize you are ruining your career, don’t you?”
Rose can’t count how many times she heard this.
Each time she made a choice to change directions with her career, she was met with incredible support from her mentors, her family, her network.
Yet, with every single job change, someone would always voice their opinion about the terrible decision they felt she was making.
She was never ruining her career.
She was ruining their version of what they thought her career should look like.
She understood their perspective.
Had she listened, she would have stopped trying.
She would have given in to a life of what others were saying she should be doing, rather than taking the risks to discover what is right for her.
It has been an intense journey, but wow has it been worth it.
When someone tells us something can’t be done, it’s more a reflection of their limitations, of their life experience, of their reality, than it is ours.
Don’t let someone else’s reality contaminate ours.
Many people have a limited view of the world and of what is possible.
It’s their view.
It doesn’t have to be ours too.
When we are taking action toward a vision bigger than us, learn to trust our intuition more than other people’s opinions.
Stay focused and surround ourselves with people who know anything is possible.
