In my explorations of the caverns stretching out below the Crystal Staircase I have discovered something rather curious. First, a restricted area sign and metal box labeled as a teleportal, which led me to a concrete bunker outside of reality as I know it - a megacorp outpost in the Void beyond space/time. The Reality Control Center at Void Station Epsilon.

What I am about to tell you may shake you to your core. A megacorp from the cyberpunk timeline has been messing with the fabric of reality, spinning up fractured timelines from the Void to exploit for resources. I am not sure if we are in a fractured timeline or the main timeline - the entire cryptovoxels.com shared reality we have all been experiencing might be a simulation ran from one of the megacorp reality control centers from a Void outpost 😅

Onboarding

Wallet Permission to log in as CVUnderworld User

  • Contact Cluny directly via Twitter DM https://twitter.com/Cluny_the_Rat (DM's are open for new message requests) to receive the shared wallet seed and private key.

Please do not share the wallet seed/private key

  • Refer anyone who wants to participate in the CVUnderworld as a Reality Control Engineer to Cluny https://twitter.com/Cluny_the_Rat . This project is an open shared collaborative space but I want to keep track of who is participating and have a point of contact. There is no way to set tiered permissions and no way to stop someone from sharing with someone else. My goal is not to control the project per se - my goal is communication and organization toward growth of the caves as a shared reality 2nd layer built on top of CryptoVoxels :)

Connecting to CryptoVoxels as the CVUnderworld user with MetaMask

  • If you have an existing MetaMask installation you can add the shared wallet within your existing installation. Use the private key you received for this. See screencaps below.

  • You can also use the seed phrase to add the shared wallet account to a new MetaMask installation - e.g. use a different browser, add MetaMask there, and use the wallet seed phrase to add the account per the prompts for importing a wallet from seed phrase.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT ANYTHING OF VALUE IN THE SHARED WALLET

Any asset you place in the wallet should not be considered secure as there is no way to control who has been given access to the wallet seed. Please do not place anything of value in the shared wallet.


Editing & the Reality Control Center

Editing in the caves

Adding objects (images, vox models, etc.) inside the caves can be difficult. The caves are huge and most of their area is outside of the actual build area of the Free Space. You cannot place items directly inside the cave (unless there has already been an item placed in that area, in which case you can often place an item by placing it next to the existing item).

The easiest way to add items to the caves is to travel outside of the cave walls proper, but inside the actual build area of the Free Space. Enter the Reality Control Center.

Locating the Reality Control Center

From the default spawn location at http://cryptovoxels.com/s/caverns - turn around and explore behind you. It looks like a dead end behind the spawn spot, but there is actually a curving passage hidden behind a wall. Follow the passage till you reach this spot -

Click the womp portal and you will teleport outside of the caves to the "Reality Control Center". This area is inside the build area of the Free Space. Place your models here, then scoot them around outside the caves to where you want them, then scoot them inside the cave.

It is much faster to use this method as opposed to scooting objects inside the caves to where you want to place them. Outside the caves you can move the items 30 spaces at a time in a void where you can easily see them, position them where you want relative to the cave, then move them inside the cave.

The Disappearing Cave glitch

The cave system is made up of 5 megavox models joined together. If you select the cave wall of one of the megavox models (right click / select the cave wall) the cave will disappear (just the portion of the caves formed by the megavox model you selected - the rest of the caves will still be there). This is true for every cave except the 1st small cave you spawn in and the 1st large cave directly outside that entrance point, the cave with a bunch of crazy gnomes :) The 1st caves will not disappear if you click them.

If this happens on accident, just refresh the page to restore the caves to their original positions.

Side note: The megavox cave isn't actually gone, selecting it just reset it to its original state (the megavox models have to be small enough to be inside the actual build space at parcel load to maintain collideability, then an animation & script enlarges / moves them out).

Using the Disappearing Cave glitch as a construction hack

You can use this to your advantage when placing objects. After you slide the object in from outside you can select the cave, it will disappear, and you can move the object around inside the space where the cave was. Then move inside the space yourself, refresh, and you should be inside the cave with your object :)

Moving a cube up 5 (Y +5) inside a cave from the outside, then selecting the cave from the outside to make it disappear. You can see the cube inside the space where the cave was. Move inside that space next to the cube, refresh, and you will be inside the cave with your cube.

Womps / portals - Entering and Exiting the caves

The shared space is already out of standard womp portals that can be added. To add exits from the caves you will have to add an object with a hyperlink to the destination. You can add a text flag above it advertising click to teleport to location so it is clear it is a portal exit.

For incoming portals/womps into the caves, please note there are only a few safe places to teleport inside of the caves. It takes a few seconds at parcel load for the cave models to resize and move to their positions. Most entrance points will result in the player stuck in rock or falling outside of the cave area entirely.

The default spawn point at https://www.cryptovoxels.com/s/caverns is safe to take a womp from, as is the lowest section of the first large cave (this section is at the same level as the actual build surface of the free space).

The only other safe places to womp in are the bottoms of the two flooded pools in cave 3. Here the cave goes below the build surface - anywhere you can see the floor exposed with the image of water surface is safe to womp in.

Note visitors will be appearing "under water" if womping in at these locations - the view up from arrival is pretty dark through the water layers:

The Soccer Pitch

One of the womp portal destinations from the Reality Control Center is a soccer pitch that exists up in the void outside of the caves.

The soccer pitch is a large solid (collideable) area (polytext hack) that works for placing items to build with. This is another place where you can place items and then slide them to where you want in the caves. There is a physical entrance into the caves next to the soccer pitch and a portal back to the reality control center in the middle of the field.

Anywhere on the soccer field surface is also a safe place to take a womp to use to teleport into the free space from outside.
