Elephants or among the people of Aceh better known as Poemeurah is one of the world's big animals with weight that can reach 7,000 kg. This large mammal is also called "Pachyderms" which means thick-skinned animals, their skin is very hard and thick about 2.5 cm. Elephants are herbivorous animals that can be found in various habitats such as forests, savannahs, swamps and deserts. Elephants are considered as a key species that has a major impact on the environment to affect ecosystems, their existence is highly accounted for as ecosystems depend on them. Because their existence affects the number and characteristics of other species in a community and that ecosystem can change if they become extinct.

Gajah atau dikalangan masyarakat Aceh lebih dikenal dengan sebutan Poemeurah ini merupakan salah satu hewan bertubuh besar di dunia dengan berat yang dapat mencapai 7.000 Kg. Mamalia bertubuh besar ini disebut juga “Pachyderms” yang berarti hewan berkulit tebal, kulit mereka sangat keras dan tebal yaitu sekitar 2,5 cm. Gajah merupakan hewan herbivora yang dapat ditemui di berbagai habitat seperti hutan, sabana, rawa-rawa dan juga gurun. Gajah dianggap sebagai spesies kunci yang berdampak besar terhadap lingkungan hingga dapat mempengaruhi ekosistem, keberadaan mereka sangat diperhitungkan karena ekosistem bergantung kepada mereka. Karena keberadaan mereka mempengaruhi jumlah dan karakteristik spesies lain di suatu komunitas dan ekosistem tersebut dapat berubah apabila mereka punah.
In a Cultural show which in a few days will be carried out, the white elephant was chosen as the mascot because this animal was once an important part in the history of the kingdom of Aceh. White elephants are not only popular for coastal Acehnese, but also for Gayo people who inhabit the highlands of Aceh. Folklore about the white elephant was already legendary in the soil of Aceh, thus inspiring some agencies to use white elephant as a symbol.
Pada sebuah pagelaran Budaya yang beberapa hari lagi akan di laksanakan, Gajah putih dipilih sebagai maskot karena satwa ini pernah menjadi bagian penting dalam sejarah kerajaan Aceh. Gajah putih tak hanya populer bagi masyarakat Aceh pesisir, tapi juga bagi masyarakat Gayo yang mendiami dataran tinggi Aceh. Cerita rakyat tentang gajah putih pun sudah melegenda di tanah Aceh, sehingga menginspirasi beberapa instansi untuk menggunakan gajah putih sebagai simbol.

Pomeurah Meuseudati is presented in the form of a mascot at the Cultural Week of Aceh VII which will be held in Banda Aceh on the 5th to 15th of August 2018. This mascot is considered representative enough to lift the cultural values and customs of Aceh, this can be seen in the head of the mascot in the form of a white elephant symbol wearing Kopiah meukutop and songket Aceh at his waist.
Pomeurah Meuseudati disajikan dalam bentuk maskot pada pagelaran Pekan Kebudayaan Aceh VII yang akan di laksanakan di Banda Aceh pada tanggal 5 sampai dengan tanggal 15 agustus 2018 mendatang. Maskot ini dinilai cukup representatif untuk mengangkat nilai-nilai budaya dan adat istiadat Aceh, hal ini bisa dilihat pada kepala maskot yang berupa simbol gajah putih yang mengenakan kupiah meukutop serta songket Aceh di pinggangnya.
The presence of "Pomeurah Meuseudati" on PKA VII carries a special message. He invites the community and young generation of Aceh to safeguard and preserve the nature of Aceh, especially to prevent conflict with animals. Meanwhile, the design of mascots in the form of comic or cartoon characters aims to encourage Acehnese children to love and continue the cultural values of Aceh.
Kehadiran Pomeurah Seudati pada PKA VII membawa pesan khusus. Ia mengajak masyarakat dan generasi muda Aceh untuk menjaga dan melestarikan alam Aceh, terutama mencegah konflik dengan satwa. Sementara itu, rancangan maskot dalam bentuk karakter komik atau kartun bertujuan mengajak anak-anak Aceh mencintai dan meneruskan nilai-nilai budaya Aceh.
