Knowledge gained from parents is then sent to children, neighbors and villagers who want to learn and master the way of weaving cloth. Nurmala is the sixth generation of weavers in the village.

Based on the history of Aceh, South Aceh, Pidie, and Aceh Barat districts, almost all settlements in the district produce "songket" as theirs.

In the past, these areas became one of the rich merchant's choice of transit areas, be it local and foreign traders such as those from the Arab, Chinese, Persian, Turkish and Siam nations of the country, Siem as the first region to advance crafts woven fabric in the middle of Aceh society.
