Pretzels, a dog and a lot of me

in #curie7 years ago

I went for a drive in spite of this late snow. In Valenii de Munte they make the best pretzels money can buy. Old-style dough, nothing fancy, not even a grain of solt. Just that poor-man's "covrig". Round and never smooth, like life around these parts.

They're soft inside and always served warm. Not those dried up things they sell down in the old South Train Station in the city.

I had Claudia with me, keen to learn photography and taking advantage of my little experience I have. Today she really took advantage of me so this is what has come up. Also a dog came up at one point. Alone, on a lonely road that leads to some old salt mines in our district, a black spot on a white cloth.

As always she refused to let me take any photo but instead she started pointing me, like a professional, how to pose and smile to the camera... something I never thought I would feel the interest to do...

Let me tell you something. I'm starting to like it.
The weather was perfect for this and I thought "If I don't have a model, I'll model. The camera is semi-automated anyway right?" :) I set the camera for Claudia, played a little and worked my way based on the photos she was taking to tweak whatever the apperture needed or the shutter speed did.

Claudia snapped some nice shots that I encouraged her to do and I think that she managed to get the feel of it. I have to tell you that one of the photos of this collages was supposed to be with me throwing the snowball to her but unfortunatelly she was not able to catch them :)

Inspite of the snow you see around the weather was pretty decent. Not to cold and the wind was barely blowing. I had to snap some photos by myself also so I took the photos below by almost taking the camera by force from Claudia's hands.

Teach her to half press the shutter and be ready to shoot when she sees the action. DSLRs are always faster than phones, so if she is used to take selfies on the phone, some getting used to is needed to shift to DSLRs.
As usual, great post with great photos. I felt like having been there already, and I actually was, I have friends living nearby in one of those cosy mountain villages.
Tomorrow I will scour the city for pretzels :D
