Introducing Multi Accounts, App customisations, New Capabilities and Several Other Features

in #dapplr4 years ago (edited)

Hello, Today we have released a major update which includes Multi Account support, App customizations, Native sharing and several other features and enhancements. The testing of these features took most of our time, now the update is out and all of these features are included in the update and a lot of improvements in performance and UI. In terms of memory optimisations we have reached at a very good level. Details of the features are given below

Multiple Accounts13.jpg

New Features

1. Multi Account

Adding Multi Account support was a bit tricky and very time consuming. This is now integrated and a user would be able to login all of its HIVE accounts into the app. Once the accounts are added in the application, he/she can seamlessly switch between them. All of the authTokens that are stored at the device level is encrypted with AES-256 (further RSA encryption of AES key) on Android and Keychain on iOS. The whole experience of using the multi account is very performant and very fluid.

2. Tagged/Mentioned Users and Parsing 3rd Party Urls

In the earlier versions of the app, a user couldn’t navigate to the tagged/mentioned users and they were not highlighted. As we are using our custom parser so we need to implement it inside the parser only. Not only we added this support but also added the support for parsing the PeakD and Hive.blog user/post/community urls. So a user will now be able to navigate these urls inside the app.

3. App Customisations like Font size, Toggle Double tap upvote posts / comment and more

A lot of users in the Dapplr Alpha Team wanted these customizations and we always listen to the feedback of the HIVE community and especially the Alpha team. These customisations are included in the update and not only we added these features but also added its variants e.g Enable or Disable double tap upvotes for comments or posts or both, Enable or Disable “Posted using Dapplr” for comments or posts or both.

4. Native Sharing

A user will now be able to share its media files, texts directly from the phone or browser or gallery to the Dapplr application and it will take care of adding the corresponding data in the post. All of the apps support this feature and especially its very helpful for sharing the long text directly in the app from anywhere in the device.

5. Caching Explore Screen Posts

We were noticing quite a lot of delay while the Explore screen posts were displayed. It was actually dependent on the Network and other factors. So, we improved it by caching the Explore Screen posts and now the posts will be visible instantly on navigation. It made the whole experience faster and smoother.

6. Video Thumbnails, Memory optimizations and Grid View

We noticed quite a lot of memory usage when it comes to the video rendering and especially in the Grid Views. There were quite a lot of videos being rendered at one time so we have now replaced all of these with video thumbnails and a user can easily play the video just by tapping on it. Not only this has tremendously improved the application performance but also network payload is highly reduced. We were able to downsize the network payload by an approximate of 50% and a user will able to play its favourite video in full screen from anywhere in the application.

7. Edit Button Inside Post Options

We have added an edit button to make changes to your post easily. It’s pretty accessible and straightforward to use.

Bug Fixes

1 Incorrect Media Files in The List

Once in a while, the app used to list out the incorrect media files on the screen and it was happening because of the tremendous amount of caching and we have resolved this by assigning unique ids to the media files. With this, the functionality works as expected.

2 Text and Button Cutouts

In some of the small screen size and low DPI devices, the texts and buttons were cut out from the overlapping containers. We resolved this issue by making some adjustments in the global parameters of the application.

3 Notification Improvements

As suggested by the Dapplr Alpha Team, we have added “Mark as Read” button on the Notification screen and it will mark all the notifications as read. After reading the notification, there is still some delay when the unread count is gone from the Header. We will look for its fixes in future.

These are the improvements that we have done and Dapplr is becoming more and more stable everyday. The time is very near when we will release Dapplr to the public. Thanks to the Dapplr Alpha team for suggestions and meaningful ideas.

Open Access - Android

After these fixes, Dapplr is more robust, reliable and efficient. So we are taking another step by giving the access to many more people of the community but we have set the restriction of 1000 people and we will see how it goes. Referral system is up and running so don't forget to refer your friends with your referral link.

Just wow, I love the update. I already love the previous one, how much more this new update. Thanks..

By the way, I noticed that Facebook doesn't allow your URL to post there?

Hi @mrnightmare89

Thank your for your feedback. Facebook may have blocked the URL. Thanks for notifying us.

Could you add an option to mask NSFW stuff. It's akward when you are in public and scroll through the recent tab.

Love the update! I would still love to see a template Option for creating a new Post. Great Job!

Some awesome updates, loving the native sharing just makes this all the more tough to wait to use this app

Hi @chekohler

Thank you for your feedback. We are trying our best to launch this ASAP for iOS. Let us know if any feature you want to have in Dapplr.

For iOS ???... What about Android? Show us some love too. 😭

Hi @cronicasdelcesar

Our Apple dev account is still under progress and the app is already live on PlayStore - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dapplr.dapplr

Yes , I already update, thanks. My mistake, I need to check before replying.

Posted using Dapplr

Nevermind, I connected to my WiFi and get the update notification.

I am extremely hyped for IOS, hopefully soon. I know it's the app store making us wait.

Whoo Hoo! EXCELLENT update!

Hi @unklebonehead

Thank you for your feedback and continuous support. We are glad to have you as a part of our Dapplr Alpha Team.

Thank you!
I'm happy to have had the opportunity to test it. I cant wait to see what else you all come up with!

Yes! The app is getting ever closer to perfection with each little update. A fantastic work as always by the @Dapplr team. I love the addition of more personalisation to app, which I felt was sorely needed since the release. Now, the @the100 could finally enjoy Dapplr with the appropriate font size :-D

Posted using Dapplr

Thanks for the mention. I just updated the app and tried adjusting the fonts. It works really great. This will now be my daily driver. Awesome works team @dapplr. Love it.

Hi @the100

Awesome. We are glad that you liked it. Thank you for your feedback.

Huzzah, glad to know it's working well, and that you're joining the Dapplr band-wagon. Accessibility features are a must in any app!

Hi @zacknorman97

Thank you for your feedback and continuous support.

Cheers, and keep it up with the fantastic work :-D

Great update, and I especially like the multiple account feature, keep up the good work.

Hi @flaxz

Thank you for your feedback and support. Yes, we also believe the same. It can make a huge difference.

Great Work guys!
I'm just curious when I started the App it asks me to enter my masterkey...is that safe to do on a mobile phone?

Hi @masterthematrix

HiveSigner doesn't ask for the Master Key, it asks for the Active key for the first time in order to grant Posting access (Vote, Comment, Posts). Once Dapplr has the Posting access, you can use Posting key for future Logins.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

Great job pips!
About notifications, I recieve only actions (examole comments, votes) on my posts made from your app. Not generaly all of notifications.

P.S I wish that loading of the post was somehow faster... not notecable even :)
Like you scroll and posts are there.

Hi @dalz

Thank you for your feedback. We are using the notifications that are provided by HiveSigner. We will review the notifications for further improvements.

Amazing updates. You guys are really working hard. Question: You will add the @reward.app as an option of payout? :D

Hi @sergiomendes
Thank you for your feedback. Sure, we can do that. For now, you can manually add @reward.app (95%) as beneficiary while publishing a post.

Having that option would be awesome. Oh if we do that it will work?? And why not the 100%?

Yes it will work. 95% because currently we haven't added the customisations for the user to change the dapplr 5% beneficiary. We will add more and more customisations in future.

oh I see it! Thank You so much for letting me know that. I will give it a try on Dapplr :D

Multiple accounts and an increase in font is what I was waiting for the most! Well done thanks.

Hi @russia-btc

Awesome. We are glad that these feature helped you. Stay tuned for the more exciting features.

This is such a massive development within a short period. Kudos to the team.

Native sharing FTW! Great work!

Hi @patrickulrich

Thank you for your feedback and continuous support.

That was just the first thing to catch my eye. Thank you for including the option to remove posted by! Do you have any stats on how that helped to refer users so far to the app?

Nice apps to add in . Downloading the early access now.

Keep up the good work Team

Hi @nathanmars

Thank you for your continuous support. Let us know if any feature you would want Dapplr to have.

As soon as we've iOS version, I'll be sharing my suggestions :)

Great update and new features ! @hodlcommunity is 100% behind you and have you therefore a 100% 💯 upvote !

Hi @hodlcommunity

We are glad to heat that. Thank you for your feedback and support.

I cannot copy some of the text from any blog or comment.
Question: Is this a feature of my phone or is this feature not yet available? I would like to be able to copy someone else's text!

Hi @russia-btc

Generally, textual content cannot be copied as we do it on web. We will look into this and will try to find the best way to handle to incorporate this functionality. Thank you for your feedback

thanks for the answer - we all really need this function - copy for translation, copy for sending part of the text, and so on.

Hello Dapplr team, love your project so far!

One thing I will like to ask for is the ability to highlight texts on screen by pressing and holding the desired text, so that one can highlight and copy.

For example, if I want to highlight a particular paragraph in your post and respond to that paragraph, I can't. I have to either type out the entire paragraph or just make the comment hoping that the author will be able to relate it as a response to that paragraph.

Thank you

You're welcome. Thanks

This app and team are like extraterrestrials.. how on earth they can achieve this type of development and the established @ecency barely looking like an app of this decade only when this @dapplr team entered the scene.

No wonder the whale club don't support.
They got embarrassed. Pants pulled down.

GO DAPPLR!

Just launch your own Blockchain..
Really. You're capturing a bigger and bigger audience here with your skills. You could fork the fck out of here and do greater things.

Hi @teknow

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your words and we have been a part of HIVE blockchain for quite sometime and we love the community.

We can't say anything about the Whales, because we believe in Freedom and everyone is free to do what they want.

We want to bring the simplicity to the HIVE blockchain and hopefully, we will be a able to do it very soon.

Yeah it was tongue-in-cheek at the fact you have done amazing work with fast progress.. yet things on steem/hive work at snail pace... BY DESIGN!

Well done for what you do!

You are working really well, dear @dapplr staff!

Hoping iOS version will come soon... in the meantime, enjoy a drop of !BEER 🍻 and a small !tip 💸

Absolutely great work done in a short time..
Appreciate team effort for this update..
Thank you..

Hi @certain

Thank you for your feedback and support.

Any updates on the iOS version.. and will you guys do a desktop version too?

Hi @forykw

We are working with the Apple Support team. Desktop version is currently not in our roadmap. Our primary goal is to bring simplicity on mobile platform and once we have achieved this, we will look for other areas and desktop platforms.

Thanks for the clarification.
