It battles me to wake up and still see the same scenario occuring with promises been made over the years.

We elect officials to represent us, often they lie, they then act like bloated tyrants whilst in their position, lining their pockets with money stolen from the coffers of the nation or backroom deals.

Hungary in a nutshell + intentionally keeping many people (including me) under the local minimum wage.

People should rise against these tyrants.

I had the same idea some time ago. But that leads to another problem in the representative democracy: the representatives are the ones who approve the changes and they won't pass a law that is unfavorable to them.

I think having the people vote instantaneously on important subjects is a bad idea and even a dangerous one. Who is willing to spent the time that is necessary to be thoroughly informed in order to make important decisions. Then there is the danger that people are manipulated, like when in the UK people were given misinformation on social media to get them to vote for Brexit. I'm glad that I am represented even if that means I do not always agree with certain decisions
