RE: Who was the first person to make you feel welcome on SteemIt?

in #discussion7 years ago

I found the community extremely welcoming. I came in with zero expectations because it was all so new and different. I guess it could have gone either way, love it or hate it. But then I couldn't believe the amount of help and support that was coming my way. The first person who did a kind thing for me was @honeysim who nominated me for a pay it forward contest by @thedarkhorse. That gave me a first taste of how good it feels to be recognised for your work. I was instantly hooked, and the positive vibes and surprises kept coming.

The person who is having the most impact on me and my progress is @dreemsteem who found me and put me on the @welcomewagon. That was amazing and I hope every new recruit gets as much out of it as I did. For a week I could ask and learn everything I could think of. There are also lots of opportunities to mingle with awesome people on Discord channels such as @buddyup and @steemitramble, but living in Australia, I'm a little challenged by the time difference. Hopefully, I'll manage to join one of their shows sometime.

Then came the greatest surprise of all, one of my posts got picked by @curie during my @welcomewagon week. I didn't even know what that meant at that stage but I soon found out and was gobsmacked.

And @welcomewagen just invited me to spend a seniors week with them which gives me a chance to fill in even more gaps. So yes, I couldn't be happier with the way I was welcomed and taken care of here, and I'm grateful for every comment, upvote, resteem, and for every kind word. What a wonderful community!
