A moon canine, moondog, or ridicule moon, (logical name paraselene, plural paraselenae, signifying "alongside the moon") is a moderately uncommon splendid roundabout spot on a lunar corona caused by the refraction of evening glow by hexagonal-plate-formed ice gems in cirrus or cirrostratus mists.
