Her name isn't "shmooples" but like most normal human beings my dog has multiple names. Her official name is "Nadi" but I have been known to call her a lot of different things. I am normally a regular semi-serious dude but that all changes when I am talking to my, or anyone else's dog. I get the silly baby voice and I think that if a person doesn't do that they are a psychopath... or German.
Nadi (or Schmooples, or Babycakes, Fluffybutt, Floofter, Popcheck or a number of other names) is turning 7 this year and it is a bit of a turning point that makes me feel a little bit sad because it will be the first time in her life that she will be older than I am (in dog years.)
Of course I do my best to keep that youthful spirit in her and I have been known to buy her entirely too many toys, most of which she completely ignores and instead just steals one of my socks.
If she can't find one of my socks, her favorite toy is the one she has had the longest, and you can see her with it above. It's name is "bock bock" and she knows it by name. Oh who am I kidding any plush toy is "bock bock" as far as she knows.
Her hair looks a little bit out of sorts lately because due to covid, a lot of the doggie beauty shops have simply shut down for the time being since they were deemed an unessential service. I think I speak for a awful lot of urban pet owners when I say that this service should have never been shut down and now I kind of feel bad when I take a clippers to Nadi because I have no idea what I am doing. Most of the time it takes me multiple days to get her hair completed because man do those feet take a long time to do!
So normally I will do one or two pays and by then the clippers are out of batteries so we gotta wait a while. Whatever... Nadi doesn't mind, because I give her a cigarette after each time the battery in the clippers goes flat.

So hopefully the doggie beauty salons will open back up again sometime soon because while I am doing the best I can I wouldn't say I am getting any better at it. Thankfully my dog, and I think all dogs, don't really give a damn what they look like.
Weird how dogs love the soft toys. Ours have a toy box that they go and grab stuff from during the day. I like the ones that make noises, but then they normally don't last that long.
well Nadi has only successfully destroyed one toy and it was a fox with squeakers on both ends. It is just a squeakless rag now.
Haha a smoke reward after being good is something our buddy @davedickeyyall might like.

We plan to get a new puppy as soon as little Ricky is big enough to pick one out. And when we move into a bigger place!

SWEET a Nadi Post!! Love it.. She is so cute just chillin in her fluff bed with Bock Bock. hehe. She is looking good! The new environment is treating her well or is it all of those "Cigarettes"? Pepper has been laying flat on the tile lately as well. It's been hot here in the Northeast (90's) so it makes sense. Heck I was laying on it the other day! HAHAHA. We were thinking about getting one of those beds full of fluff for Molly.. Like we need another bed in the house. She would love it. Wonder if Nadi would just be willing to share??
Nadi is not terribly good at sharing. When she was 1 we had a houseguest that was also a Shihtzu and Nadi "tolerated" her. I wouldn't say they were friends. Mostly, since she has always been queen of the castle she is not very good at sharing anything, even with me.
Totally know what you mean. We had a Lasa Apso that was that way. I was bit on several occasions when entering the bed. She was very protective of my wife. She also tolerated Pepper while she was alive. She died when she was seven from a Tick borne virus.. very sad for us. I miss her even though she was a bit nasty on occasion. Molly has a much much much different temperament. She more happy go lucky. Either way, give Nadi a pat on the head and tell her we will not be coming over to borrow that bed :-)
well what dog wouldn't love a nice smoke after a haircut! My friends have a Shihtzu and it is one of the most calm and obedient animals I have ever encountered. There's is around 10 years old and I think he is kind of indifferent to our presence. I wonder if this is a common trait among these dogs that they don't really like to be cuddled. Their dog like belly rubs of course but if you try to give it hugs it just wants to get away.
Nadi is the same way. I read somewhere that Shihtzus are claustrophobic and don't generally enjoy cuddles. I don't know if that is true or not but it does seem to be the case with my fur-baby.

My girl and I have been hiding out a in 5 star condo in Hua Hin for a whopping 300 bucks a month. Unreal how far the prices have come down. Life is good here in Thailand, but you already now that. Are you familiar with Hua Hin? I was here about 10 years ago, and forgot how comfortable it is. How are you liking DaNang now that you've been there for a while? Are you happy with your move?

I have never been to Hua Hin but i hear good things. Mostly it was too far away from all 3 of the cities that I lived at and since 2 of them were beach cities already i never felt inclined to do so.
Totally get that. This place really is nice. Very laid back, just my style.
That dog reminds me of the two dogs I just finished caring for over the last week while family was on vacation.
I can firmly state that I much rather see dogs in photos than having to care for them hahaha. The luxury of having no pets to care for at home is something I’ll never take for granted.
This is a point that i frequently revisit. I love my doggo and she is the light of my life but i also realize that things would be much easier in a general sense if I did not have a dog. Since I am a digital nomad it seriously complicates things because moving a dog from one country to the next is often more expensive and complicated than to move a person.
Most of us pet owners/owned by pet people can easily relate to your love for Nadi @gooddream which is obvious within those photos alone :>)
lol, yeah i certainly feel owned by her on a regular basis. The amount of apartment / condo limitations that were placed on me because of her was huge, like 80% wont even talk to you because they make no differentiation between a wild Rottweiler puppy and a 5 year old housetrained 6kg floofter who basically just sleeps all the time (Nadi).
When I was involved with apartment management, we generally allowed pets under a certain size. An extra deposit along with the normal fee was common though. More and more landlords and management companies here in the States are now disallowing pets altogether 'AND' children?!?!?!?
