Jacob Goes Off Grid Day 167 Part 1 (Podcast Version)

in #dsound6 years ago

This is a podcast version of a video from Day 167 of going off-grid. I went 'off grid' six hundred and sixty days ago and it has been quite the journey since I got dropped off at this old fallow farm and built (continue to build) all my own infrastructure. I have been video documenting the entire process and have just recently begun publicly sharing some of the videos. I have been sharing the videos privately since I started the entire process which I call Jacob Goes Off Grid In The Woods. 'Day 1' is the morning after I arrived at this little place in the mountains in the 'dead of winter' on January thirteenth of two thousand and seventeen with my dogs, my wits, minimal gear and very little hard currency to work with. Slowly I have done my best to breathe life into a very old farm and give it all my best, 'learning as I go', and documenting the process as best I can. It has been quite the journey so far. @jacobpeacock

Jacob Goes Off Grid Day 167 Part 1
Day One-Hundred-Sixty-Seven Part One:

In this video I talk about doing more brush clearing in the new homestead area and show where I started a new brush pile. I talk about hauling the brush to the new pile with the wagon.

I show the area of the woods that I did the brush clearing in and talk about how much of it was large multi-flora bushes.

I talk about how a few days before I had used the weed-eater to create a new trail to the creek from the area I had been doing the brush clearing in.

I talk about pulling a huge multi-flora bush out of the top of a black locust tree and what a tangle it was.

I talk about one of the bolts that hold the swing-blade's blade on and how it sheered off and how I had to find another bolt, nut and lock washer to fix it.

I talk about working until I am exhausted each day and then taking a nap in the afternoon and after a few hours of sleep waking up and doing more work before it gets dark outside.

As always this is just a summary of the video's content and not meant to explain everything that I cover in the video.
