Happy Easter Sunday

in #easterlast month

This beautiful stained glass window of the Savior is called Easter Morning and was made by Louis Comfort Tiffany for the Church of the Epiphany in Orange, New Jersey in 1905. It is now located in the Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC.

It is a gorgeous piece of art and one that I want to celebrate and highlight on this Easter Sunday.

Each week I pick a scripture to ponder from my weekly scripture reading. This week the scripture is from the Book of Mormon Alma 7:12. The prophet Alma is speaking to the people of Gideon about the Savior and his resurrection and atonement.

And he (Christ) will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels will be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.

What a beautiful scripture and teaching about the role of Christ as our Savior, Redeemer and comforter.

This week I also listened to this General Conference talk again, The Grave Has No Victory. Sister Reyna Aburto speaks about the topic of Christ's atonement and resurrection in a wonderful way.

She quotes President Nelson,

Death is a necessary component of our eternal existence. No one knows when it will come, but it is essential to God's great plan of happiness. Thanks to the Atonement of the Lord, eventual resurrection is a reality and eternal life is a possibility for all humankind..."

...For sorrowing loved ones left behind...the sting of death is soothed by a steadfast faith in Christ, a perfect brightness of hope, a love of God and of all men, and a deep desire to serve them. That faith, that hope, that love will qualify us to come into God's holy presence and, with our eternal companions and families, dwell with Him forever.

As I listened to Sister Aburto speak I thought of my family, mainly my parents who I miss so much. Because of Christ's sacrifice, death and resurrection I have this brightness hope that I will see my parents, grandparents, ancestors, niece and friends again.

Here are posts I wrote about my parents deaths.

You will see how I view death has a lot to do with my belief in Jesus Christ and his resurrection, which is what we are celebrating today.

Happy Easter Sunday!

Happy Easter @sjarvie5

There's another scripture that tells us to be conscious of the fact that we will all die one day. I don't remember the exact one nor the phrase exactly.

It's true that death takes a toil on the loved ones left behind but it's beautiful to know that if we hold on our faith, believing that the Lord knows best, since he giveth and he taketh in his own time, we will have the strength to endure their absence until we meet again to part no more.
