School should not force children to learn foreign language. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is argued that foreign languages should not be a compulsory subject to be taught at school. While I believe that learning a foreign language is beneficial for students, I strongly agree that they should not be obliged to learn such subject.
On the one hand, learning another language is useful for a student's future studies and career. Specifically, furthering education and pursuing a job abroad will be easier to achieve for those who have already studied a second language. For instance, proficiency with the English language in addition to their native dialect will be an edge for them to be admitted to a university overseas because they already knew the local language, as some institutions may require a language test. Also, being bilingual opens doors for foreign students as well.
On the other hand, requiring young students to study a foreign language is a waste of time to some extent. They should spend their time engaging in activities or studying things that they are interested in instead, such as enrolling in dance classes or learning local history. This seems more worthy than consuming their time tediously for a new language, which they may have no plans of using in the future. In addition, learning a foreign language is costly. If a school implements this in the curriculum, they will need to employ a competent linguist. An additional instructor means additional expenses to pay for their services. As a result, parents will be paying more for their children's education, and this could be a burden on parents, especially those with low incomes.

In conclusion, I am convinced that studying a foreign language will be helpful for some pupils in the future. However, it is just a waste of time and expensive for others, and therefore I would argue that this should not be a mandatory requirement in schools.
