Today I visited the Pidie Jaya Regency hospital to monitor and supervise the safety and security of radiation in radiology installations. I was contracted by the hospital as a radiation protection officer to do regular monitoring and report every monitoring result to the hospital director and also to the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency located in Jakarta.

Pidie Jaya Regency Hospital is a hospital owned by Pidie Jaya Regency government and currently has a type C stratum, in the level of health services facilities established by the Indonesian health department, type C hospital is a third tier hospital. The first level is a health clinic or community health center. Then the second level is type D hospitals. Type B hospitals are the fourth level and type A hospitals or international hospitals are included in the category of the fifth level.

At the Pidie Jaya Regency hospital I have worked as a radiation protection officer since 2012. The scope of my duties at this hospital is in the field of radiology. In particular, supervising the use of ionizing radiation in the hospital's radiology installation. According to government regulations, every use of ionizing radiation must get permission from the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency. This permit aims to guarantee security and safety for radiation workers, patients and the general public.

*Patient waiting room*

Every room that uses ionizing radiation must meet safety standards with wall thickness must be at least 20 cm or equal to 2 mm of lead. If the walls of a wooden room must be covered with lead. Then every radiation worker must use personal protective equipment (one of which is an apron). And also every radiation worker must use a radiation monitoring tool. This radiation monitoring tool aims to record the amount of radiation exposure received by each radiation worker while working in the radiology sphere.
