In this post, I will share some highlights of 2017 in 𝗲Steem development and share some thoughts moving forward in 2018.
Steem
Growth we have seen in community size and mindset has been great and very positive. In 2017 we have had 15 Steem software releases, 4 hardforks, price from $0.16 to ~$4, many many more applications built on top of Steem, still growing...
eSteem
As we have seen growth in Steem, eSteem also followed the growth and contributed a lot to get users from the 3rd world countries where for majority of population only medium to connect to the internet is through their mobile devices Also giving possibility to all users from around the world to stay mobile. Application language support grew from 15 languages to 50+ languages. Monthly Active users grew from 1,000 to 21,000 for Android, 600 to 9,000 for iOS. eSteem had 8 releases for each Android and iOS devices. Kept number 2 spot and increased percentage of mostly used applications built on top of Steem. Overall 2017 was a blast, looking forward to exciting year of 𝗲Steem in 2018.

Thank you for this @earthnation. I’m only 5 days in and already discouraged by what feel like impossible odds. I believe I have genuinely high quality, original content that might do well here. Yet how is someone like me — who hopes to earn followers and reputation based on the merit of my posts rather than the strength of my wallet — meant to find solid footing in this community, when so much of what I see filling my ‘trending’ feed looks like hastily drafted, paid-for-upvote crap?

I am also proud of the progress and explosion of ESTEEM users, especially those based on Android, as one of the third country residents, who only connect to the Internet via mobile device, I feel contribute to this, I intend to invite friends, relatives and anyone eligible to join in ESTEEM, the results were very positive, almost all welcomed my invitation, with the record I had to teach them to register and help them make some first post, I am willing because this is part of my way to promoting my Blog, ESTEEM users increase, then my Followers also increase.

I joined Steemit last year and my first post was with eSteem. The app has really helped many persons.
A wonderful and full of amazing features. I have used extensively, written a complete how-to guide on using it, and encouraged a lot of people to install and use it. The one-off automatic upvotes are awesome.
I am specially thankful for the extremely good notifications.

Hey nice job, and i can see that the roadmap is great.
But i think you guys should also think about creating company pages the communities will be great for companies to promote their produts briging money to the Ecosystem.
Other thing that Steem should invest is network strength we need one that apps that use facebook or gmail to find we have friends in steem we don't know about and invite others to join...
The desktop application sounds awesome. I would love to be able to schedule the release of my posts from my desktop. And the proposed design features also look really good.
This app will certainly increase the steem blockchain's appeal.
There is one problem, esteem consumes alot of mobile data, extravegently major problem to users who don't have wifi
I hope that i 2018 the technical staff will manage to make it consume less

Hey! CHeckout my blog post. then it has some esteem:// link instead of a WWW link.
It's makes sharing and promoting articles cumbersome.
