Farmer's rice production in North Aceh reaches 250,167 tons per planting season (TM) or approximately 500 thousand tons twice (one year). While harvest productivity currently reaches 6-7 tons / hectare.

Furthermore, rice harvest is followed by part of Samudera sub district, Simpang Kramat, Kuta Makmur, Sawang, Nisam, Banda Baro, Dewantara and will be followed by Muara Batu with 1,500 ha of land area.

The harvest depends on the water source, let alone the hot climate that is very influential on the farmers harvest, "he said.

It is said, to increase the yield, farmers are asked to pay attention to varieties of superior seeds because Ciherang varieties are currently not suitable for use because it is no longer resistant to various disease attacks.

"Variates Ciherang rice seeds have been very long and no longer suitable for use because it is not resistant to disease," he explained.

Therefore, farmers throughout North Aceh who have been using Ciherang are advised to replace superior seeds with other varieties that are resistant to pest attacks, such as Impari, Sidenu, Cibogo and Mikonga, so that the quality of the harvest is also maintained.
