Function Type: Logical
Description:
IF function specifies a logical test to perform allowing us to return one of two results.
Logical test results in a TRUE or FALSE.
Logical tests utilize Logical Operators.
Then we can assign two different results for when it is TRUE and for FALSE.
IF function is one of the most popular functions in Excel.
I remember when a colleague told me IF is a fundamental of programming languages, not in exact same words.
Function Structure:
=IF(logical_test, [value_if_true], [value_if_false])
Argument Breakdown:
logical_test - A value or logical expression that can be evaluated as TRUE or FALSE.
[value_if_true] - The value to return when logical_test evaluates to TRUE.
[value_if_false] - The value to return when logical_test evaluates to FALSE.
Example:
Having a Yes or No sample.
Using other logical operators with number
Pro Tip: We can use the logical operators equal to and not equal for text strings.
