You'd be hard-pressed to find anything written about Colter Wall that doesn't mention that he sounds about 150 years older than he is when he's singing.
Now, I can hear you already. "150 years? How is that possible? He sounds like he's 175 years old? What does that even sound like?"
To clarify, he sounds like he's older than his years but also singing from the past. He sticks to a rather traditional style of playing country and folk music. To me, it's refreshing. In the current crazy world filled with distractions everywhere we turn and music that's made by fake instruments programmed by fake people.
When the zombie apocalypse hits, they will not play these songs around the campfires on acoustic instruments. At least not without rearranging them to transform them back into natural music.
Joe Rogan, who runs one of the most popular podcasts in the entire world, is a big fan of Colter Wall. Recently, a story was making rounds because Joe Rogan wanted to have Colter Wall on his show, but Wall was busy working on a ranch and couldn't make it. That's how you know he's either the "real deal" or he's great at pretending.
Colter Wall isn't ignoring his musical career, though, and he's stayed pretty active throughout the past handful of years. He even mentioned on Instagram recently that there's something in the works as far as a record goes.
In a photo taken at Spider Ranch in Arizona, Wall wrote that he's here along with LaHonda records to say that he and the band are cooking up a new project. We shall see what it is when the time comes. I'm excited about it.
Either way, it's not hard to figure out how this song ended up in my head. I've been listening to a lot of Colter Wall and the song is catchy as hell.
This post is part of an ongoing series in which I document the songs which are in my head immediately upon waking. I've been making them for a long time now.
Do you wake up with songs in your head regularly? What song was in your head this morning? Comment below, I'd love to hear from you!
