I won't talk no matter what you do, human!
"You sure about that?"
I'm tough as nails, mind, body, and soul, do your worst!
"Alright."
The human takes out their violin, and their lesson book, and begins to practice. The violin screeches, plunks, and makes ungodly noises, the person IS just a novice after all...
Alright, alright enough!
"You'll talk?"
Yes! And you need more lessons! -- Anon Guest

Interrogator Lyle smirked as he bowed the investigators into the room. They would find out everything they needed to know, or Lyle would come back and practice some more.

That was threat enough.

Lyle put his violin and instruction book away before taking a meal in the building's cafeteria. There, Lyle found himself facing a very curious Companion Zytt. Lyle consumed at least three mouthfuls before he cracked and said, "You have questions."

"One question," said Zytt, ruffling and resettling their feathers in satisfaction. "What do you plan to do should you master the violin?"

"That's a good question," said Lyle. "I need to think about a proper answer for that."

Zytt watched every forkful enter Lyle's mouth. Lyle made mental notes on their innocent enthusiasm and anticipating silence as a potential method for non-violent interrogation. Silence like that was hungry. Practically salivating for words to fill it.

It was a very good thing that they and Lyle were friends.

He still felt the need to take his time chewing and swallowing, then carefully wiping his lips free of errant sauce.

"I think," he said, "in the unlikely event that I master the violin... I will either take up the clarinet... or the bagpipes."

Sort:

LoL learning bagpipes is far worse than learning the clarinet. Heh, I know the noise from experience. Especially if one of the pipes is out of tune.

Lyle might make certain those pipes are out of tune >:D

That's actually not hard. All it needs is to be not completely attached, where a little extra air can get around the pipe instead of through it. The screeches are terrible.
