"My dear, I'm sorry, but while I care for you, I cannot, and will not, lie to you and say that I want to be with you in THAT manner. Your summons hurt. Please, stop calling me. I'm willing to be friends, but nothing more."

"Aren't you the demon of pain and anguish?" Cosima protested, tears already ruining her mascara. "You're the living embodiment of everything I love."

"Sweetheart," sighed Bolvoth. "You love pissing off your parents. I'm happy to help you with that, but these summonings hurt me. You don't care about that?"

"Demon of pain?" said Cosima in her best well-duh voice. "You're into that, right?"

"I'm into causing that in others. Not for myself." Bolvoth edged towards the thin slice of shade available to his summoning circle. "This daylight comes from Aurorus. It hurts. Yet you keep summoning me where Aurorus' influence remains."

Cosima mumbled something while looking at her feet.

"What was that?"

"I don't like doing it in absolute darkness. I wanna see you."

"And...?" prompted Bolvoth. "The rest of it?"

"...and I'm still scared of the dark."

"Do me a favour," sighed Bolvoth, "go be edgy with someone else?"

"Do I still get the creepy powers?"

"Sure, sure," growled Bolvoth. "Just... dismiss me from this world of torturous light."

Cosima sobbed, more for herself than anyone else, as she said, "Go back, foul fiend, unto the darkness to which thou belongs't."

The black flames swallowed him, and Cosima had some serious thinking to do.
