Scrooged (1988)
Directed by Richard Donner. Starring Bill Murray, Karen Allen, Bobcat Goldthwait, Carol Kane. Alfre Woodard, Wendie Malick, John Forsythe, Robert Mitchum, Miles Davis, Lee Majors, Anne Ramsey, Brian Doyle Murray. and John Glover.
Bill Murray plays Frank Cross selfish, cynical television executive attempting to put on a live production of Charles Dickens' classic festive tale A Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve. However Cross is himself visited by three spirits, who attempt to convince him to change his ways. Meanwhile a disgruntled ex-employee (Bobcat Goldthwait) who Cross fired right before Christmas plots his revenge.
Filming began in December 1987 and was Murray's first starring role since Ghostbusters, at this point Murray had been living in Paris and had seriously considered giving up acting entirely. He may have regretted his decision though as he didn't have a good time on the movie, often clashing with Richard Donner.
