This is my third report in the #finweek category, where I write weekly about my progress in increasing HP. I always start with the main point—numbers—then move on to the work done, plans, and other related information.

Numbers

  • Previous value — 3553 HP
  • Current value — 3564 HP
  • Weekly result — 11 HP
  • Goal by the end of the year — 4000 HP
  • Remaining to reach the goal — 436 HP
  • Weekly average — 12 HP

Starting next week, I will add a new metric: the number of comments, posts, and the ranking according to the service https://hivebuzz.me/ranking. For now, here are just the baseline numbers:

  • Total posts — 18
  • Total comments — 205
  • Overall HP ranking — 3015th place

The idea of tracking activities through comments was inspired by @libertycrypto27, so thank you for that—it's an important metric.

What has been done:

  • This week, I wrote two articles, and this is the third. Interestingly, the first article published was a mini-research piece with 3,716 words, taking about three days to write, working a few hours each day—a pretty labor-intensive process. The second article, however, was written in just 30–60 minutes. Both received roughly the same number of votes, with only minor differences. Definitely something to think about. 😊

  • Throughout the week, I experimented with HP delegation. At the start of the week, I delegated 3,500 HP to the curation account Ecency. Every day, liquid HIVE was credited to my wallet, ranging from 0.72 to 0.82 HIVE daily, averaging about 0.77–0.78 HIVE, which isn't bad. Initially, I expected a higher return, around 0.8–0.9 HIVE. However, this week saw a "bloody" week for altcoin markets, with a short-term downtrend, and HIVE's price also dropped, affecting the delegation payouts.

  • Ecency provides payouts perfectly on schedule—every day at 2 a.m. local time, like clockwork. Additionally, just a few minutes after receiving HIVE, 350 Ecency points are credited (100 points for every 1,000 HP delegated). I tested article promotions on the Ecency platform using these points, but I can’t say the results were spectacular. There may have been additional votes, but unfortunately, this is impossible to track, so I couldn't fully evaluate the effectiveness. I’ve accumulated some points, so I’ll continue testing how promotions work compared to not using them.

  • Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve managed to accumulate 23 liquid HIVE coins through delegation payouts and exchanging HBD for HIVE at the prevailing market price. This forms my "bank" for trading HIVE on the internal market in the HIVE/HBD pair. When I started writing this report, the price was $0.24, and now it’s $0.33 USD—a solid 40% jump in a single 15-minute candle. However, this seems more like a recovery of the price after a sharp drop rather than a sustained upward trend.

  • Just before writing this report, I disabled my HP delegations. These past couple of weeks of testing have been valuable in terms of the experience gained.

    1. After all delegations, I was left with about 50 effective HP, which, in my opinion, is the minimum comfortable amount—even just for writing comments.

    2. Analyzing blockchain data from the past week and calculating rewards from votes, I concluded that with self-curation, I could earn 20-40% more HP than I receive in HIVE payouts from delegations.

    3. Currently, the situation with power outages has stabilized somewhat, and I hope it stays that way. This gives me the opportunity to manually curate every day.

    4. The ability to influence is something I missed this week. While my vote weight is still modest, 3,500 HP already gives more weight than at least 50% of voting accounts on average posts. I’m confident this also helps build social connections, as people are naturally drawn to those with more influence—it always works this way.

  • Oh, I almost forgot to mention—delegating also showed me how staking works. Over the course of the week, with 3,500 HP delegated, I saw a growth of just over 1 HP. If I hadn’t made this delegation (separating 3,500 HP into its own line, apart from my main balance), I probably wouldn’t have noticed, as my balance increases gradually over time. This means that annually, it’s around 3% or 105 HP, and daily, the growth is about 0.287 HP. Now I can see how this works in practice.

  • I’ve started writing several drafts for articles. Next week, I think I’ll finish the second article in the Hive Guild series. There’s really not an ocean of information, but more like a whole ocean. I’ve been trying to run surveys on Snaps on Peakd, but getting responses in the form of comments doesn’t always work out. I reviewed a lot of information this week across different accounts. Sometimes I catch myself drifting from the main topic and realize that what I’m reading at the moment isn't helping with my current work. I have to stop myself and create a new draft with a separate topic, which I found interesting while researching something else. As a result, I’ve accumulated a stack of drafts with potential articles for the future. By the way, this is a good thing—it means I don’t have to sit and rack my brain about what to write next.

What I plan to do:

  • At the end of next week, the 5-day period for claiming delegations and regaining control over my HP will end. Therefore, I plan to start manual curation, and the results will be visible in the next year—at least another two weeks...

  • Today, for the first time, I began exploring Hive Engine Tokens and the internal DEX exchange. I had a few LEO tokens, listed them for sale slightly above the market price. If I sell them, I’ll start thinking about how to trade that small bank—around 3 SWAP.HIVE. There are many tokens, some with decent volume, and there are gaps in the spread, so I think I can find some options, but I need to spend time studying how everything works and doing tests. I’ve never traded on DEX exchanges, only on centralized ones, and I think the principles are more or less the same, but I need to test it in practice.

In my last report, I mentioned that I’d try to add something interesting to the end of each report, so this time I’ll try a bit of technical analysis on HIVE.

All horizontal lines on the chart were drawn in August 2022, as these levels were last marked then. The horizontal accumulation channel was identified later, after it appeared. As for the levels, technically, HIVE moves perfectly from one level to the next. There’s always a reaction to significant historical levels, often with breaks through them as expected. HIVE has been in the accumulation channel for over 2 years. I expect a breakout from this accumulation channel in the foreseeable future.

The breakout from the accumulation channel is roughly at the 0.5 USD level. Anything below 50 cents is an acceptable price to buy with minimal risks. A sustained price above this level on larger timeframes would likely signal a rapid rise, a "moonshot." There's a possibility of a return to the previous ascending trendline (the bold red one), which will now act as resistance, but such an event would further boost the rise. However, this is likely only if the overall market trend supports it, and it's unlikely to happen "tomorrow"—patience is key. The growth should be sustained, as the overall trend of the cryptocurrency market is crucial.

Next weekend, I’ll try to dedicate more time to technical analysis. To be honest, I haven’t focused on it much lately, as there hasn’t been a need—accumulation is just that: a calm and steady movement within the channel.

The tests you are conducting are quite interesting, as they could serve as good use cases for those wondering which strategies are feasible to implement for growing their HP.

I've also observed that delegating to curation projects provides lesser rewards, which I believe is because they're not focused on maximizing their curation returns.

I still think that controlling your own HP for curation is more beneficial, provided you have the time and energy to actively curate efficiently. It has been established on this platform that votes with higher value have significant social impact as well.

However, I feel that it takes more than just high HP; it also depends on your overall interaction with other users on the platform.

All the best! I look forward to your updates soon. You're doing great on your journey – keep it up!

Thank you for the feedback. Yes, major curators definitely have a social impact, 100%. In general, there’s a whole philosophy around curation here, and I’m still trying to figure out how it all works. Reading old posts by Acidyo helps—a lot of interesting stuff. If I had known where to look earlier, it would have been easier, but it is what it is.

As for delegating, at least now I understand how it works. You have to test everything to really grasp how things operate.
