This is my 4 report in the #finweek category, where I write weekly about my progress in increasing HP. I always start with the main point—numbers—then move on to the work done, plans, and other related information.

Numbers

Previous value — 3564 HP
Current value — 3576 HP
Weekly result — 12 HP
Weekly average — 12 HP
Goal by the end of the year 2024 — 4000 HP (failed)
Remaining to reach the goal — 424 HP (unrealizable in the time remaining)

The goal for 2025 is 10,000 HP, with an additional target of 15,000 HP.
To achieve this, the weekly HP growth should be 124 HP per week.

Conclusion on the current goal by the end of the year: the goal was unrealistic and not based on any factual or statistical data. It was just something I wanted. However, it’s a great learning experience that will be taken into account moving forward.

Social metrics, weekly dynamics

The information was collected using the service https://hivebuzz.me/ranking

  • Articles dynamics: 18 → 21 = +3
  • Comments dynamics: 205 → 286 = +81 😲
  • Overall HP ranking: 3015 → 3003 place. +12 positions in a week 😳.

Tracking table by week, starting from week 1

When I came across the first such report on growth dynamics, I had to track down reports on the account over a span of 2 years to understand the development trend of this metric. This is very inconvenient if you only need to grasp the dynamics. That’s why I’m including a table in this report.

Goals for 2025

I want to set two goals: a basic one and an additional one, in case the basic goal is achieved ahead of schedule.

  1. Basic goal for 2025 — 10,000 HP.
  2. Additional goal — 15,000 HP.

From the perspective of my current progress, these goals are entirely unrealistic, but there are nuances:

  • There’s a high likelihood that the upcoming year will be extremely volatile in terms of price surges and drops. Theoretically, with a solid plan, discipline, and risk management, this can be leveraged to accumulate more native coins or generate profit.
  • My allocated HIVE amount for trading on the internal exchange is growing. Over 4 weeks, it has increased from 0 to approximately 40 HIVE. Hypothetically, this could double the HP growth, but that’s just theory and wishful thinking.
  • I’ve noticed some positive dynamics in how my articles are being evaluated. Additionally, there seems to be some progress in building social connections on the platform.
  • Compound interest can achieve fantastic things. If you don’t know what compound interest is or how it works, I highly recommend looking it up and familiarizing yourself with this amazing phenomenon. It’s pure magic—mathematical magic 😁.

What's done

  • This week, I wrote two articles—this is the third one. It was the same last week. I’m generally okay with this. I don’t want to chase quantity when it comes to writing; it doesn’t interest me and feels counterproductive.
  • On Friday, my delegated HP returned, and I finally regained full control over my voting power. You know, it feels nice, like getting a promotion 🤣. The curation rewards should start coming in at the end of next week, and in 1–2 weeks, I’ll have some statistics on how much curation specifically brings in.
  • Over 4 weeks, I managed to accumulate about 40 HIVE. This came from Ecency delegations, converting HBD into HIVE for articles I wrote, as well as from commentrewarder and activity in comments, particularly in Snaps. Yes, there were also a few trades on the internal exchange, but I don’t track those since the amounts are insignificant. Altogether, this added up to about 40 HIVE, though I can’t specify the exact number since part of it is currently in HBD or placed in a limit order for purchase on the internal exchange.
  • I read several dozen old articles on the platform to better understand how the ecosystem works. I think this time was well spent; the information will be useful for future articles. Additionally, studying the ecosystem’s strengths and weaknesses has sparked some interesting ideas for the future.

What I plan to do

  • In the long run, I want to accumulate a more or less substantial amount of liquid coins for trading on the internal exchange. I believe this should be around 30% of my staked HP, approximately 1,000–1,500 HIVE. This would allow me to convert part or half of the weekly growth into HP. HIVE is one of the better tools for trading due to its high volatility, and the next year is likely to amplify this volatility even further. I think this based on market cycles. By all indications, the accumulation phase for this coin is nearing its end, and the participation phase will soon begin. However, HIVE has certain unique features. I described some of them in an article this week. In case you're interested — article.
  • I think I’ll write 2-3 articles next week. I've gained more information over the past week, and I have some ideas.
  • Snaps is a really cool feature, especially for onboarding newcomers to the ecosystem. I plan to stay active there.
  • I want to learn more about the principles of curation—this topic is a priority for me.

Overall, there’s nothing particularly interesting happening in the cryptocurrency market at the moment—just consolidation in a sideways trend. I expect a breakout from this consolidation soon, either up or down 😆. In the short term, it’s uncertain, but on a broader scale over the next few months, the situation seems pretty clear to me. There’s a high likelihood that altcoins will 🚀 somewhere toward 🌕.

Why is your curation APR so low?
Of note, best curation rewards if you vote posts that are not older than 24h, otherwise you lose some %age, increasingly with age of post, I think after 6days 2/3 is lost.

I was looking at this statistics recently, and I had an overly high APR figure, something like 140%. It’s possible there was too little data on curation, and that caused an error. I just withdrew my delegations and regained control on Friday, so the rewards will start coming in next week; that might be the reason. Most likely, the statistics are based on the effective HP on the balance, and before this Friday, I had around 50 effective HP. Now, I have about 3500 HP, so the jump and recalculations could be the cause of this.

After a week of curation, it should return to the correct APR (%) provided you don't abruptly increase or decrease your current HP.

OK, that explains it. If large parts of the HP are delegated, the calculation gets flawed.

I was also curious to see your reports on increasing HP strength. In the last post, there was a reference to an article about orcas. Are you a trader or more of an investor? Do you make trades on the market often?
