Keepers of the Flame

I’d like to think that we’re born into a world of darkness and the souls that arrive bring their own source of light to combat the darkness that shrouds this world. Within us all is a flame that acts as a source of energy that animates these vessels that house our flames and provide light that illuminates the darkness, so that we may perceive our surroundings as far as our eyes can see.

As we make our way through this experience we call life, we struggle to keep our flames lit as we learn and grow through our trials and tribulations. Among these flames are a few special souls that remember the immutable love that we received from the source of all and shine the brightest because they know that true love is unconditional.

I’ve come to know these special souls as what I like to call “Keepers of the Flame”. Those whose flames burn bright enough to rekindle dwindling flames that are near and dear to them, they can illuminate the darkest of nights and they make this life experience a bit more bearable for us all by reminding us of the light and love within us.

There are two ways of spreading light; to be the candle that shines the brightest or to be the mirror that reflects the brightest flames. Today I would like to reflect upon a great loss for the illuminated ones.

I am blessed to have had the opportunity to bask in the light, like a moth to a flame, of one Mrs. Regina Kelly, Flame Keeper. One who shared her light with many and helped to illuminate this world even the darkest of times. She will be terribly missed but not forgotten because the flame that she shared with everyone she touched still burns bright in those that she loved on. The world is a little brighter because of Keepers of the Flame like her.

Message to Gina’s Girls:
I’m not going to tell you to be strong or that everything will be all right because it is certainly a long way from being ok. What I will say is, that it is time to continue to honor your mother by sharing the light that she gifted to you all, by loving on each other as she would have loved on each and every one of you, continue to keep those flames burning bright.
