Hello, dear friends. I'm happy to be back!
Today we will continue talking a bit about nutrition. Especially an essential part for the process of digestion and absorption of food to be effective. It is the chewing.
Fuente
The chewing process although it is developed largely automatically. Because when we have food in our mouths, the brain triggers the act of chewing as an act of reflex. However, it is a very important process when we talk about nutrition and absorption of food.
What is chewing?
Chewing is the process by which the food is wrapped in saliva and crushed into a paste that the stomach can process easily.
The muscles of the jaw responsible for chewing are the strongest in the body and, at the same time, one of the most sensitive. These muscles can exert pressure to break down hard foods and yet they also have the ability to stop the bite so that the teeth do not break between them once the food is crushed.
Although it sounds quite simple; However, it is a process of vital importance to have a good digestion and absorption of food. When chewing, the enzymes of the saliva begin the process of transformation of the food, on the other hand while we are chewing the stomach is prepared producing gastric juices with the necessary acidity to continue with the transformation of the food. Those people who have problems chewing or who do not chew food properly before swallowing it do not allow the stomach to prepare properly, which causes, of course, that they do not get to assimilate all the nutrients in the food.
In addition, when poorly chewed food or whole pieces reach the stomach, this body must work twice to produce more gastric juices, which are usually much more acidic than normal, to process these poorly chewed foods. This results in diseases or disorders related to food. Such as: gastritis or stomach ulcers, overweight, heaviness stomach and others.
You knew that it is recommended to chew the ingested food between 15 and 50 times, so that they are better assimilated.
How to have an adequate chewing?
To have a proper chewing the first thing we should do is take the time to chew the food ingested, do not chew in a hurry, It is recommended to chew each bite between 15 and 50 times, depending on its consistency. Make sure you chewed all the food well before taking another bite.
Breastfeeding children the first 6 months of life favors good chewing.
During breastfeeding, the baby must make an effort to suck the breast milk. This effort allows the baby's face and mouth to develop important muscles and bones that will allow him to chew properly in the future.
Remember that if you chew slowly:
- It can help your metabolism to be a little slower.
- Your nervous system relaxes and you will have a good digestion
