As is usual in me today I bring you something really different, one of the most popular and versatile food in the world..

Arepas

Is a pre-columbian food, originary from Colombia and Venezuela, which is made of ground dry maize or precooked corn flour, and is flat and circular in shape.

The venezuelan Arepas are very versatile because you can fill it with whatever you want, from cheese to chicken or meat going through many combinations of ingredients, you can eat it as a main dish or like a companion of another dish (like soup)

So if you want to one day try to do them here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

-Precooked corn flour
-Water
-Salt to taste

1- Add in a bowl the flour with some of salt to the taste and pour the water, mix it with the hands until obtain a homogenous and soft dough.

2- Make balls of dough with your hands and crush them to shape the Arepas, it can be the thickness and size you want,
and place them in a "Budare" or pan until golden brown.

3- Finally you open them in half and fill them with whatever you want, in this case they have cheese and ham!

And they are ready yo eat!! Enjoy... This is a food full of stories, tastes and customs!!
