Growing Microgreens Indoors

Summer may be over here in the northern hemisphere and the outdoor garden is slipping into its winter nap. The tomatoes and peppers are safely tucked away in jars and freezer for winter meals.

Winter is a time of rest and reflection... unless you do a little indoor growing.

Growing your own fresh microgreens is an easy and nutritious way to scratch your gardening itch during the dark, cold months. Plus, it will save you a bunch of the other green stuff we call money.

Did you know broccoli sprouts are one of the healthiest things you can eat? Watch this video to see what you are missing.

I’m growing microgreens in soil this winter. I think it’s easier than growing sprouts in a jar on the counter. No rinsing and draining a jar of skinny little sprouts multiple times a day.

Microgreens are more like gardening, without the sunburn and weeds.

The method I’m using is to only grow enough for a days consumption. That means small containers to supply 8 to 12 ounces of micro-produce a day. Then you plant another batch every succeeding day. This will give you a continuous, fresh supply for a few minutes of micro-work each day.

I can do a more detailed how to post if there is enough interest. Let me know in the comments.
