UPF Still Dominate

in #food2 months ago

Ultra processed foods are still dominating the diets of millions of Americans and people around the world today. We see this to be the case despite the many warnings that you can find out there for UPF and what risks might be associated with a high consumption of these foods.

UPF items are one of the cheapest options for buying food and with so many struggling with cost of living stress it is no shock that many would try to grab UPF to save some money.

From mental health to metabolic wellness, there are a variety of studies that have sought to investigate what risks there might be associated with consuming UPF frequently. One recent review on the subject found multiple potential associations with risks like early death, cancer, and heart disease. However, there are some out there who might even try to argue that there are a few UPF items which are good for your health. We know the trend isn't moving in this direction though as more people around the world today worry themselves with sugar amounts for example in popular food items. This is why we see 'all natural' 'less sugar' and other similar marketing slogans being used to try and attract consumers to one food option or another.

It's alarming to see so many today still consuming a diet high in UPF and knowing that there are multiple investigations into this topic which have suggested that there might be a concern for potential risks. Unfortunately, today in our markets we find that there are hundreds if not thousands of different UPF items that we are exposed to with a common trip to the grocery store. With the colorful and enticing marketing campaigns and frequent advertisements to be found it can be tricky to try and avoid when there is so much temptation out there aimed at trying to get people to eat these food products.

Some critics have suggested that not only might these UPF items be bad for our bodies but that they could pose risks to the environment as well.
