Beautiful Cake for 100 year old (centenarian)- time to reflect and think if we could all be so lucky

The flowers are fake, I am told, by my friend the baker who has struck again with this rare event of a cake to make.

With everything going on around us, there are only very few that make it to age 100.

This prompted me to do some quick google research on this that I thought I would just share for fun. A person who makes it to 100 is called a centenarian. It is estimated that ~.01% of the world's population reaches the age of 100. This is actually doubled since around the 1940's. I suppose this is due to more modern medicine...Japan has is the #1 country for having people reach this age. In the USA, it is estimated that for every 100,000 people, there are 22 centenarians. I never even knew this word before and find myself getting hung up by spell check right now just typing it a few times.

This of course reminds me to appreciate everything you have once again. You never know if you're going to make it to 100, or if today is the day.

Apparently, it also customary in the United States, that the president will send you a birthday card for reaching 100. I had never known this as well.
