in #food4 days ago

If you’re looking for a quick, flavorful appetizer that captures the essence of Italian cuisine, this Garlic Bread Appetizer with Mozzarella, Tomatoes, and Basil is a must-try. It’s a simple recipe that brings together fresh and fragrant ingredients to create a dish that’s perfect for any occasion. With minimal effort and just a handful of ingredients, you’ll have a delicious snack or starter ready in no time.

The base of this dish is garlic bread, which already comes packed with irresistible flavor. Whether homemade or store-bought, the slices of garlicky goodness are transformed into a canvas for layers of creamy mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, and aromatic basil. The combination of these classic ingredients creates a perfectly balanced bite that’s cheesy, savory, and slightly tangy.

Mozzarella is the star of this recipe, melting into a luscious, stretchy topping that complements the soft interior and crisp edges of the bread. Topped with diced tomatoes, the dish gains a refreshing burst of flavor that balances the richness of the cheese. A sprinkle of basil—whether fresh, frozen, or dried—adds a fragrant, herbal finish, elevating the dish with its signature aroma.

This appetizer is incredibly versatile. It’s ideal as a party snack, a side dish for soups or salads, or even a light lunch when paired with a bowl of your favorite soup. Best of all, it’s ready in just minutes, making it the perfect recipe for when you need something impressive but easy to whip up.

Warm, cheesy, and brimming with Mediterranean flavors, this Garlic Bread Appetizer with Mozzarella, Tomatoes, and Basil is sure to be a hit at your table. Serve it straight out of the oven and watch it disappear before your eyes!

You will need:

  • 1 garlic bread loaf (I use already baked, store-bought)
  • 1 mozzarella cheese (around 125 g. or so, but use as much as needed for your bread slices, I normally use half or a bit more)
  • 1 tomato
  • salt
  • basil (fresh, frozen, or dried)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. Trim the edges of the garlic bread loaf and slice it into even pieces. If you’re using store-bought garlic bread, simply use the pre-sliced portions.
  3. Slice the mozzarella cheese into small cubes, strips, or pieces. Usually the whole cheese doesn't fit on 1 garlic bread loaf, so use half or more depending on your garlic bread size and number of slices.
  4. Dice the tomato into small chunks.
  5. Top each garlic bread slice with enough mozzarella to cover the surface. Add a layer of diced tomatoes and a pinch of basil. Sprinkle with a little salt to taste.
  6. Bake for 7–8 minutes in the oven, or until the cheese melts. Serve immediately and enjoy!
