NFL / American Football Facts

Football is a popular sport in North America. Known as football in the United States and Canada, it is often called gridiron or American football in different parts of the world. It evolved from rugby football, and the first game was played in 1869 between Princeton and Rutgers. The NFL (National Football League) was established in 1920, and by 1922 it was already considered to be the premier league. In 1960 the American Football League was created, and by 1970 the NFL and the AFL merged, with a championship game to be played between the leagues each year. This championship game is known as the Super Bowl and the winner is awarded the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

-An NFL rookie earns a minimum of $420,000 a year.

Sort:

I'm pretty sure the NFL renounced their non-profit status last year, but I definitely could be wrong.

I think you're correct. Looking into it, it says: The NFL's tax exemption applied only to the league office and not to the teams themselves, and the office has since given up its non-profit status.

Many thanks @aaronrodgers

Go Pack Go!! Little more trivia for ya.... I live in Green Bay!

If we will have not to much injuries the Packers have a good chance for a long long season withe the end in February.

It's going to be a hell of the superbowl :)

One of my favorite NFL facts has to do with its oldest rivalry. The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears have a longstanding dislike, but the Packers would likely not exist without George Halas donating money to the team. Halas seemed to understand the importance to both teams to continue the rivalry.
