My Gameweek 10 FPL thoughts

in #football5 years ago

So I roll into gameweek 10 in a nice position, my best position that I can ever remember, actually. Top of all my mini leagues and more impressively, at least to myself, in the top 13,500 of the full game. It doesn’t mean a great deal at the moment, but being about a quarter of the way through the season I think it is something to be happy with.

Even nicer is that I don’t think I need to spend my free transfer this week! My team looks good, although with triple Man City coverage that could all change at 11:30 tomorrow when we get the line ups and Pep has once again disappointed the masses in some way or another.

The constant worry of which players Pep will rotate is bad enough, but when they have a plum fixture, at home to Aston Villa, the decision on who to captain becomes all the more important. I’ve done well so far with my captain picks, so I can’t help thinking that this week might be ‘my turn’ to get messed over and get it horribly wrong.

I’d love to captain Sterling, especially after his midweek exploits, but there’s a little voice reminding me what happened earlier in the season when Man City had another plum fixture. Home to Watford. After Sterling had played two International games. After Sterling had played a Champions League game. Sounds familiar, right ….

It’s why after much deliberation, I will go with ……

The Ginger Prince got taken off early during the week, which for the logical FPL manager suggests he will be more certain to start and play this weekend. To add to that, his last three league home games make for impressive reading ….

I’ve had it set on him all week, and no amount of mind-games from my fellow mini league competitors will change this now. I’m glad it’s Friday night deadline for this reason!

The rest of my team picks itself, although again, I feel uncomfortable with one part. Leaving my most impressive player this season on the bench. Again. Sir John Lundstram. Luckily, I’ve had him in from the start of the season. Even more luckily is that I’ve benched him three times and still got his points due to players in my starting 11 not playing.

At the moment this week, I have him warming my bench again …. and it just feels wrong. I’ll decide over the next few hours what to do with him, the only thing that makes me think I might get away with it this week is I assume most of my rivals will do the same thing due to attractive fixtures for other popular defenders.

Anyway, enough from me for now, I wanted to share my thoughts on this gameweek and now we all wait to see how disappointed we’ll be come Sunday evening. Good luck to fellow managers out there……. apart from my mini league rivals and people around me in the overall rank!
