| Bonjour à tous, j'ai profité des quelques jours passés dans la vallée de la Loire où j'ai admiré le château de Chambord, joyau de la Renaissance, pour faire un détour d'une cinquantaine de kilomètres et visiter le zoo de Beauval. Le zoo de Beauval est sans doute le parc animalier le plus célèbre de France et classé 4ème plus beau zoo du monde. Je n'affectionne pas particulièrement le fait de voir des animaux sauvages dans des lieux clos mais la politique du zoo de n'exposer que des animaux déjà nés en captivité et de promouvoir la défense dans leur milieu de vie les espèces menacées m'ont incité à ne pas refuser de visiter ce parc par simple jugement moral. Je vous propose d'admirer quelques unes de mes photos. En conclusion, je vous dirai ce que j'ai réellement pensé de ce parc. | Hello everyone, I took advantage of the few days I spent in the Loire Valley, where I admired the Chambord castle, a jewel of the Renaissance, to make a diversion of about fifty kilometres and visit the Beauval zoo. The Beauval zoo is probably the most famous animal park in France and ranked 4th most beautiful zoo in the world. I am not particularly fond of seeing wild animals in enclosed spaces, but the zoo's policy of only exhibiting animals already born in captivity and of promoting the defence of endangered species in their environment made me decide not to refuse to visit this park simply out of moral judgment. Here are some of my photos. In conclusion, I will tell you what I really thought of this park. |

| Les lémuriens et les suricates ont l'air de s'être bien adaptés dans leurs enclos assez vastes pour leurs tailles et très bien aménagés avec de multiples structures. | Dans l'espace dédié aux grands animaux africains, plusieurs espèces cohabitent paisiblement. Les soigneurs tentent lorsque c'est possible de mettre en scène le point de nourriture afin de se rapprocher le plus possible de la façon naturelle de l'animal de se nourrir comme avec les girafes ici. | In the area dedicated to large African animals, several species live together peacefully. | Petit avis critique : le zoo de Beauval est un lieu d'une richesse incroyable : 35000 animaux de tous les continents sont exposés et tous issus de la captivité. Les enclos sont tous thématisés de sorte à ressembler le plus possible au milieu naturel des animaux qui y vivent. Néanmoins, j'ai éprouvé une gêne importante devant certains grands mammifères ou de grands oiseaux qui ont un besoin naturel d'espace que le parc ne peut leur proposer. Certains animaux se sont parfaitement acclimatés à leur milieu artificiel au vu du nombre extrêmement impressionnant de naissances en particulier parmi les oiseaux évoluant en liberté dans le grand dôme. Le parc est magnifiquement aménagé mais comme tout lieu touristique en France et ailleurs, il commence à être surfréquenté et il faut parfois accepter de piétiner pour circuler. Le directeur du parc apporte de la nouveauté chaque année mais les derniers choix d'aménagements me laissent un peu sceptique voire amer. En effet, le parc est désormais doté un téléphérique permettant de voir le parc d'en haut mais surtout de la traverser d'un bout à l'autre. De plus, cette année vient d'ouvrir une immense volière parcourue de plateformes et de ponts à 36 mètres de hauteur pour voir d'en haut des étangs occupés par une colonie d'oiseaux d'Amérique du Sud et de flamands roses ainsi qu'une centaine de petits mammifères. J'aurai préféré des investissements centrés sur le bien-être animal et moins dans le but de faire de ce parc un "Disney" animalier. Le tigre blanc et le pygargue sont de petits enclos : je trouve cela assez triste. | A little critical opinion: the Beauval zoo is an incredibly rich place: 35,000 animals from all continents are on display, all of them from captivity. The enclosures are all themed to resemble as closely as possible the natural environment of the animals living there. Nevertheless, I was very uncomfortable with some of the large mammals and birds that have a natural need for space that the park cannot provide. Some of the animals have acclimatised perfectly to their artificial environment, given the extremely impressive number of births, particularly among the birds that roam freely in the large dome. The park is magnificently laid out but, like all tourist sites in France and elsewhere, it is beginning to be overcrowded and it is sometimes necessary to accept to walk around. The director of the park brings something new every year, but the latest choices of facilities leave me a little sceptical and even bitter. Indeed, the park is now equipped with a cable car that allows you to see the park from above but above all to cross it from one end to the other. In addition, this year a huge aviary with platforms and bridges has just been opened at a height of 36 metres to allow a view from above of ponds occupied by a colony of South American birds and pink flamingos as well as a hundred or so small mammals. I would have preferred investments focused on animal welfare and less on making this park an animal "Disney". The white tiger and the eagle are small enclosures: I find this rather sad. |

J'ai beaucoup aimé certaines mises en scènes mais il faut conserver son esprit critique. Le parc part néanmoins du principe que l'on ne peut protéger que ce que l'on connaît : cet objectif est atteint selon moi. | In my next article, I will introduce you to the birds of the park and talk about the shows, which are very impressive.
