RE: Dollar Vigilante Is Now Supporting HIVE via Vigilante.TV!

in #freedom2 years ago

From my cynical years of experience on this chain, I doubt the actual content creators are as involved as they claim they are.

Some of them are happy to syndicate their content (which is not a bad thing) and just post on Hive regardless of engagement.

The "handlers" on Hive's side reap all the benefits whether or not the content creators know their content is being monetized without their knowledge or permission.

Sort:

Much hope. Much cynasism. That describes HIVE.... or the beginning of Steem.
I am glad you are asking the tough questions.

Most of the content creators of these videos, just push to HIVE/Steem along with pushing to all the other platforms.
Rarely any discussion in the comments. Rarely any direct feedback.

A lot of times, they don't even bother to mention Hive on their About page or their list of social media.

It makes you wonder what they are ashamed of. Or is it because of taxes? If so, when those 87K IRS agents drop over a period of 10 years, you'll be audited for other stuff one way or another.

Yeah, i had to dig a little... then find that the back end was a HIVE product... and then...

However, this group has always done things kinda never professional level.
They are a jump in and do it... and solve the problems later kind of group.

Hey @enforcer48, here is a little bit of BEER from @isnochys for you. Enjoy it!

Did you know that you can use BEER at dCity game to **buy dCity NFT cards** to rule the world.

That is understandable. The HiveTube plugin we developed for Vigilante.tv which is a peertube instance is not really integral to our goals with the platform but just a way for viewers and content creators to earn a little. The the way Hive is set up forces every video that is added to vigilante.tv to appear on peakd which is unfortunate. If there was a way to avoid that and only have it appear on our platform I would do it. So far the only way would be to fork Hive and I don't really want to develop that right now.

A couple of suggestions that would make things more believable:

  • You need a believable way that their presences are verified.

For example, I can't even find any mention of Hive when I jump to @pressfortruth's many social media pages. That really doesn't make me feel confident about this content creator's presence on Hive (and I don't know if they are involved with you guys. It's just an example.)

PeakD does have a badge system you guys could use to let people know when a creator is verified. How that vetting process work is another story.

  • Rewards on content where the author is not on Hive should probably be burned (which still allows curators to earn their shares). You can take a small percentage if you want.

Better yet, it would be cool if you guys could send the proceeds to those creators without accounts. They might eventually come to Hive.

It doesn't seem right to have you guys reap 100% of the rewards from those without accounts. The incentives there scream making sure that particular creator doesn't get an account (especially if it gets whale support) so you guys can still take all the rewards instead.

It always bothers me greatly when other people's content is pumped out here and we can only rely on some folks' words that they are being honest with the funds.

My philosophy has always been, "when money is involved, assume nobody is honest until they can prove otherwise".

I want to emphasize that the problem is not how the videos display on PeakD (or any frontends). It's the way the rewards are being allocated that some folks find suspicious.

Those are good points and something we DO think about. For now we ask creators to link to their channel on vigilante.tv / dollarvigilante.tv in their video description like here from Sat Yoga (

Regarding people without accounts we ask them to create one but some doesn't want to yet. I suggested @kencode who programmed HiveTube and talks to some of the whales that they could just tell use where to send 100% of the funds of creators who does not have an account which I think would be a good solution that I would implement instantly!
