Wake-up kisser - A 5 minute freewrite story

A colorful sunrise

It was the best part of his mornings. When the sun shone through the window and he knew he was allowed—no—he was expected to shower her with kisses until she woke up. Three were his favorite spots. The first kiss had to go on her brow, because no other part of her was left uncovered by the blankets. When those moved downward he’d follow with her nose. Always far, far warmer than his. Those ones tickled her, he knew that, so he hurried before she could avert her face and went for the killer move—her mouth. It always worked! One big kiss all over her lips.

“Bruno!” she’d scold when that happened, but always with a smile playing her moist lips. “Ok ok, I’ll wake up now darling.” She said sometimes, and “Jeez… you really are hungry today aren’t you?” she’d say others. She’d then get out of bed and stretch—poorly, in his opinion—but he waited patiently and was always rewarded with a sweet smile.

“Ok sweetie! Let’s get you some breakfast!” she'd say.

And then he’d lop happily by her side on their way to the kitchen, tail wagging uncontrollably. Oh, he was such a good wake-up kisser!

This was based on @mariannewest's prompt for today for a 5 minute freewrite...

Ok, ok, fine! I cheated there... Time ran out around 'waited patiently' and I did go back and fixed the absurd amount of typos (I had to think really hard to understand some words there) and to change some commas for points and dashes.

Despite all, I had a lot of fun with this. It's my first attempt and I was dreading it... I hate running against the clock. But I'm glad I gave it a try, it was a lot of fun. And really productive!

Yes. I visit at least a handful of freewriters daily.

It feels like writing class 😂😂

Very nice @isa93! I wouldn't know it was your first attempt.

Thanks! I'll give it a shot later :)

That was so sweet!!! Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you thought so :) thanks for reading!

Btw, I love that name and pic hahaha

I love this so much! :-D

I'm glad you liked it!

Very sweet, well done! It's very hard work, but what a rush.

Going through it afterwards and fixing typos is definitely not cheating. And when you have a nice end like that, it'd be such a shame not to add it. I'm fairly new as well, so I don't have any authority when I say this, but I think this exercise is supposed to help force you to write, and if you write a little longer than five minutes, it has achieved its goal.

Its really hard! For a moment there my mind went blank and I was literally just hitting random keys on the keyboard just for the sake of not stopping.

I like the way you think, typos should not see the light of day if spotted, so fixing them can't be cheating. In fact, it should be considered a service to the readers. And this exercise definitely forces us to write, and even when the result is really rough it is a story, and being able to pull one in such a short time feels great.

Thanks for reading!
