Hello Steemit.

I feel compelled to try out freewriting. It is 4:30pm in California, where I currently reside, and I woke up earlier this week with a dry cough and an unfortunate respiratory dryness. This has happened before and I expect it will be gone within a week. In the meantime, I am trying to take care of myself, lay low and rest easy.

I spent New Years in the Mojave desert at a small gathering with musicians and artists. I have found myself getting more and more involved this scene in California. I love the music, and since quitting my full time laboratory job a year and a half ago I've been helping produce these events around the state. In the last month, I got a job offer in Costa Rica for a production gig there, and I'm loosely scheduled for a couple gigs here in California coming up in April and June.

In the meantime, I have been doing construction work and delivering pizzas on the side for some extra cash, and spending a whole lot of time learning about this blockchain ecosystem. I have started a side project called Blockchain BAE (short for Blockchain, Bitcoin, and Everything), that I am using to post my thoughts, research, and just generally compile anything I find interesting about the blockchain ecosystem. I got engaged in the last year, and I am hoping to take my travels global soon. My fiance is interested in building out a couple vans and traveling the US, so maybe I'll start there. Posting progress on those goals might be an interesting project for this Steemit account, and she's pretty interested in photography (and even expressed an interest in Steemit last night, so maybe I'll make her an account).

I've decided to become more active of an active poster, both with this personal account and with blockchainbae.eth. So far I've been most active on Twitter, but I've made a few posts here on Steemit as well, mostly regarding my thoughts about blockchains and other technologic developments. I've been following the progress of DAOs in the last year, and I'm curious to see where all that goes, and I would like to attend or work a couple blockchain conferences here in the Bay Area this year. (I volunteered at SFBW19 and had a really great time with the SFBW crew in October). I've also registered for a class in Digital Currencies through the University of Nicosia, so maybe I will post here what I've been learning in that course, and I'm going to do some work with the Parity Crew as an ambassador for Polkadot this year, so we'll see where that goes too.

All in all its shaping up to be a pretty packed year. I hope y'all will join me on my adventures. If you shoot me a comment or question I'll be sure to respond.. In the meantime, happy steeming!

Mark
