A fried melon banana morning

This is a short one from an old memory...

“Dad?”

“Yeah”

“How long is six weeks?”

“About as long as they need to be.”

“Dad?”

“Yeah.”

“Is it morning yet?”

“Not yet. Go back to sleep.”

“But Dad?”

“What?”

“The birds are singing. Listen.”

Zib, zib. Zee. Sip, sip, sip.

“And I can hear Mum making breakfast.”

“Ok. Up you get then. Tell Mum to bring me breakfast in bed.”

“Dad?”

“Yeah.”

“Mum’s making fried melon banana again.”

“Does she not remember what happened last time?”

“Don’t think so Dad.”

“Ok son. I’m coming down. You phone the fire service.”

“Ok Dad. But you’d better hurry.”
