Enquiring into Real-Estate and Civilisations on the Galactic Diplomacy Planet

Continuing to explore the Capitol of the Galactic Diplomacy Planet...

The image above shows me in the south-east (lower-right) corner of a huge swathe of ambassadorial residence type buildings that are apparently located south of the Starport.

Visible are buildings owned by the Romans, the Italians and the Canucks (Canadians).

Apparently they all chose to buy three of the museum-like residences that seem intended largely for displaying one's loot and/or wares, plus one of the huge "trading halls" that are sort of like a kind of "vending machine" in that the owner gets to use back passages to go in behind each vending room to fill it with merchandise.

I find it somewhat surprising though that none of them seem to have started stocking their vending-halls with merchandise yet...

Above is a screenshot showing me standing at the "altar" of one of the first rank of vending rooms on the ground floor of the trading hall that sports the Italian shield on its roof. The altar has an inscription saying to drop 1000 platinum (pieces; coins), the idea being that if I drop those coins on that altar-like object the portcullis will open letting me in to grab whatever merchandise the Italians saw fit to put in that room. Evidently if you want to sell things for less than the prices built into the altars you'd simply include some "change" along with the merchandise in the room.

But as can be seen, the rooms are empty!

I decide to resort to the "who" command to see who is online; I would show you the output here but apparently less-than and greater-than symbols used to frame some parts of the output confound the "quote" and "code" inclusion facilities peakd provides here so I guess I cannot currently do that.

Suffice to say that I see a "Medici" and a "Luigi" both online, both located in the Imperial Planetary Capitol, which is where I too am reported to be located. I use the "tell" command to "tell" each of them I am interested in chatting with them if or when they are "at the keyboard" and up for a chat. Seeing no instant response I go about my business for a while, as chat here is obviously pretty much akin to old time "IRC" (Internet Relay Chat) thus chances are a lot of folks leave their clients connected 24/7 and review any messages whenever they do happen to be at their keyboard. I also mention that I am at the Galactic Planetary Capitol thus can pick up mail at the Imperial Post Office if they'd prefer to use the Imperial Post to communicate.

Exploring more of that south-east corner of the huge swathe of residences and sales-halls I find the real-estate sales building for that batch of buildings:

To my right as I enter, in the first row, it can be seen that the last three sets of keys on both sides of the street have been sold; those presumably were the keys bought by the Italians and the Canucks; I expect that on the next row inward I will find three sets of keys gone from the south side, corresponding to the three residences the Romans bought.

The altars you drop stuff on want you to drop 30000 diamonds! I think diamonds typically are worth about 8 platinum each. Clearly I won't be able to afford one of these fine buildings for a while unless I buy myself some Amberium (CCAMB) on the Stellar platform or some MGOLD (MUD gold) on the HORIZON platform; earning that much as a single character in-game must be quite challenging!

I do not know how the vending hall buildings were bought, the real estate sales building does not seem to handle them at all. Another little mystery that hopefully can get cleared up if I ever hear back from Medici or Luigi. Maybe I will need to also attempt to message some other characters but I'll give a day or few for one of those to respond before trying to bother anyone else.

Here is an image taken outside the real-estate office:

Outside-realestate-office.png

The white pillared building north-north-west of me is the real esate sales office. I am a few streets north of the steet the Italians and Canadians are on, and somewhat west. Evidently this huge swathe of real-estate consists of five by five large blocks (maps) of streets, so if I continued west on the street you see me on above I will find four more real-estate offices; such offices are in the north-west corner of each of the large blocks (maps) of buildings. The residence immediately north of me is 55001: building 001 of block 55, the fifth block southward and also fifth eastward from the north-west (top right) corner of the entire block of 25 (5x5) maps of buildings.

That is a lot of real-estate. Plus it looks like the real-estate sales offices can themselves be owned by players, who presumably would receive all those piles of 30000 diamonds other players pay for keys to the residences. I wonder how much it would cost me to buy a whole block (map) like that? Hmmm...

!LUV the 2d top down graphics. It reminds my of my pokemon gbc days. 😁😁

The #Galactic-Milieu uses #Crossfire-RPG for a 2-D tile-based view into the Milieu, #CoffeeMUD for text-mode, #FreeCiv for 2-D tile-based planetary-scale on the scale of Civilisations, and someday hopefully something along the lines of #OpenSimulator for 3-D full-immersion mode. :)
